I'd love a sepang blue S3 lol
Did you get it before the extra tax on cars worth over £40k kick in? Can't remember what year that started!
To be fair your car does look nice in all the pictures you have posted and as you have said you don't see the colour very often.
Yeah I found that with mine, petrol wasn't ott and even doing short trips to work and in and out of town I was getting around 30mpg which is more than I get with this A5 coupe! The S3 was a manual so maybe that helped a bit. Also the tyres on the S3 were still the original ones when I sold it with just under 18,000 miles on it....the A5 needed wo new front after 7,000!!! Looking back I wish I'd kept the S3...just the colour made me change early
Yes I would of thought so .
Yes I agree aftermarket prices are a lot better than dealership prices and most of the time the parts are just as good if not better .
It comes down to what you want to spend on a car per year everybody is different in my case I like to go on holiday two or three times a year
18K is not bad going for the tyres what brand were on your S3
That is good to know for the future
That is a lot of financial info for someone who doesn’t give away financial info!!
Servicing and parts on RS cars are always more than S cars. Feel Audi use it as a premium as you're in an RS model.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I think the S cars hit the sweet spot in term of price & performance, over the RS cars. TBH there were not many occasions where I felt my S3 wasn't quick enough. Yeah, you always want more power / torque when you go for that overtake, but really, there were not many occasions the S3 was left wanting.
Plus, anything with an RS badge is more likely to get targeted by the unwashed.
Be interesting to see what the new RS3 will be like. I think I still have an RS3 in me, but it just depends on price, and how much more expensive it will be over the S3. To swap from my old S3 to a new RS3 was going to cost me double what my S3 was worth at that time. For me, it wasn't double the car. But that was comparing old v new. New v New is very different.
I was looking forward to seeing the A3 saloon but Im not massively impressed, the back end of the S3 saloon for me has always been the “best bit”, I kinda feel like they’ve not really put much effort in to this new car, it looks more like a run of the mill A4 saloon where the current A3 saloon has a sporty elegance about it and looks nothing like other bigger models.
But due to me wanting to do different things with my money, I doubt I’ll be putting as much in to a car in the future, I’m going to be a right boring git I think.
yer so predictable .....
Ohhh now you're asking!!! Off to look at some old pictures......nope can't find any that show the make
@Snake Pliskin didn't do much miles in all the time he owned his pfl Rs3 ....how many miles mate 10k.... Was it..?
That's what I have on the A5, I suppose the heavier car and front wheel drive don't help with wear!
You on the wind up again jassy
I had conti 5's on my old A3 they wore very well so might go with them again or Mps4 when the time comes to change
yeah i don’t do many miles ... approx 7k per year ... the RS did eat through Pirelli fronts though every 12 months - a very soft compound combined with near 400bhp is not conducive to tyre life lol
AMG shod with those as standard
Might be old news but a few spy shots of the RS3 saloon here:;
It doesn’t look that much different from the current model, the designers at Audi certainly aren’t earning their money these days.
A few shots of the new Saloon here
what is special about it other than the colour which you can now get very similar as an option in turbo blue
Front end looks RS, what have they got in store for actual RS then... same bits just more black?
Too much black plastic inserts front and back
The rear faux vents tho.... just .. speechless.
DO NOT have these on the RS3 I beg you Audi.
Just read the spec on @jassyo06 signature and you’ll see why.
Yup you'll get a slightly lighter tone of blue on most of the new Audi model range now..but it's more of a milky blue tone...but you wont get it on the current A3/S3 unless you pay more for it....l cant remember the exact RRP of my car at the time of ordering, but similar similarly priced to a well specced RS3 Sportback as far as l can remember of which l was going to order but so glad l didnt
l have met another Voodoo Blue Audi S3 Saloon owner last year in fact and he gave me the best compliment l have ever had been given about my car....the second best compliment was Audi trying to copy it
From the rear it's difficult to give a real opinion on to be honest....them wheels are drowned out by them large wheel arches at a guess l would say 17"s max, front looks very aggressive l like it a lot as does the matrix led light signature they also have black enclosures/surrounds as the current car has not
Agreed. Front looks great.
BTW, those are 18" as per the Audi UK configurator.
The new model needs at least 19" to look okay, while the current model looks fine with 18".

What is it, an A class?
Struggling with all the fake vents front and back.
I can live with the front fake vents but the rear ones are terrible .
Aye it's an A class with Audi emblems emblazoned on it ....tut tut

Sure my RS3 Vorsprung , or Carbon Black , which ever i choose or whatever its called by then will be without the fake vents, 1 can hope, i like the 2020 A3 to be fair though, the colour above not so much
Need to see the front in the flesh but the back looks pretty average.
l am pretty sure the next gen RS3 in all model derivatives will have fake vents in the rear bumper its the Audi way now
Unfortunately, fake vents appear to be the ‘in fashion’ on nearly all new cars nowadays
what is this? charging point?
May have to drill a few holes in mine then
I have both an S3 and Rs3. The S3 is cheaper to run but if you do low miles, then the running cost difference is very small. However, the purchase price and insurance are quite a bit different.
S3 uses the common 18in 225 40 tyres (unless you've upgrade to 19in, though that wasn't an option in 2014) - very cheap and usually about £325 to £395 fitted for 4
RS3 uses bespoke Pirelli tyres if you stick to pirelli they aren't cheap at £1040 for 4. You can get cheaper makes especially if you go non staggered setup - though it depends if this impacts insurance and warranty and some places like costco won't do this.
Brake pads and disks
S3 think we paid £319 for front pads and disks
Rs3 think front pads and disks are on offer (lol) at Audi at a bargain £1040
For me, S3 about 30mpg - normal driving but busy here hence why low - worst 25mpg, best 42mpg
RS3 about 27mpg - worst 18mpg, best 35mpg
About 50% more for the Rs3
Whilst things are a bit more, we do low miles anyway so insurance aside, the difference in cost is hardly anything. The way they drive and sound, the s3 is a quick car but the rs3 is on another planet. The s3 sound is not great (and this is the 2014 model which is alot louder than the later ones)
