hi i'm looking at buying a a4 avant tdi s line and was looking for advise on wether to get a 1.9 or 2.0 ltr? common faults and what to look out for ect. thanks in advance

1.9 is the older PD version and is reliable. 2.0 has more power and the BKD versions are more reliable, about year 2006 onwards. With all the TDI's drive them and listen out for any undue noises or excessive smoke which could be turbo on it's way out. Other than that, treat it as any other car and make sure everything works, drives and stops straight etc.
My opinion now is a petrol version will be less hassle and no longer more expensive to run, unless you are doing taxi type mileage. DERV cars can be mega expensive when they do go wrong these days.

+1 with Soot, unless you are doing stellar mileage you may get more reliability out of a petrol imho....but don't let us put you off. May be wrong, but best to go for the latest model that you can afford....earlier diesels are problematic. Check out Honest John website reviews.....some good info there, and beware of certain engine codes which have a bad reputation!....There's 1,000's out there, so take your time and bag yourself a nice one. http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/audi/a4-b7-2005/
