Hi I've been lurking around for a few weeks and currently waiting on delivery of a Missano Red 184TDi S-Line in about 3-4 weeks.
As I will have the car for the next 3-years I would like to keep the paint finish looking its best but without too much detailing time.

Can anyone recommend a suitable product that I can apply at home without the need for specialist tools or specific training.
In the past I've used Meguiars wax and this always gave good results but needed regular topping up.
Are the sealants better?

Thanks in advance

Andy

Collinite wax all day long.

A double size tin costs around £25, will probably last longer than you have the car and has no equal for endurance.

Just apply it VERY sparingly......

I recently gave mine a full detail as my detailer was on holiday
Meguiars clay bar
poorboys swirl remover polish
chemical guys glaze
50/50 wax

all easy to do and apply by hand no machine needed (depending on how bad the swirl marks are) hopefully none as its new! First time using wax as i have always went with a sealent, just as easy to apply as the sealent and identical results. The beading on the car is still as impressive when i applied it a month ago, all i do to keep it clean is snow foam, rince, detail spray and dry.

+1 for Collinite Wax.

But as stated above put on sparingly and work on a small area at a time - otherwise you will be there hours trying to get it back off!

Well I have stuck to basic set of kit but am very pleased with results ... I use Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection and every wash I use the Aqua Wax as a drying aid. I always finish after each wash too with Meguirs Ultimate Quick Detailer .....

My paint feels like glass and its keeping dirt and water off a treat .... plus for Glacier White it looks good.

My last car on Glacier I used Dodo Juice Wax which was good but I think the Extra Gloss is giving better shine and feel ...

I did whole car with Extra Gloss in about 30mins, then leave 30 mins and buff off .... I have done about once every 6 weeks.

I do keep my car clean and wash at least once a week though sometimes twice !

I like Aqua Wax as well - would recommend. Just wondering, when do you use the Quick Detailer and why really. If you wash the car as regularly as you say, why do you need to do anything after the shampoo, except the Aqua Wax and dry?

I find the quick detailer leaves a niceshiny finish

I've used Zymol Carbon wax on previous cars with good results. But when I got my S4, I decided to try the GTechniq sealant. I used C1 + EVO for the paintwork and C5 on the wheels.

3 months and 6000 miles on, the paintwork still beads up like the day I applied it. It's also really easy to clean, after not being cleaned for over 4 weeks the wheels cleaned up with just a jet wash.

So you do wash - rinse - aquawax/dry - quick detailer?

Do you find that the quick detailer adds much after the aquawax/dry? I find that leaves a pretty good finish on its own.
