New year, new problem - Speedo/Fuel gauge failure

Hi guys, Happy New Year!

Does anyone have the part number for an S3 gearbox speed sensor? and its location would be a great help

Speedo needle isn't working and fuel gauge is being erratic. All points to the gearbox sensor right?

have read about some magnetic ring also within the driveshaft input... sensor would be easier!

Fecking car, nothing but trouble recently! always when its particularly wet!

The speedo failure is very intermittent... works fine from cold for about 15 minutes then goes haywire and then does a flop on.

Wondering if perhaps it isn't the sensor and is infact the metallic ring on the front diff shaft?

I dont have a vcds to scan

Part numbers can be found in the stickies dude... partsbase.org...

Speed sensor is around 100 quid from memory and known to fail... a scan for fault codes would help to confirm...

Scan for fault code bud, I suggest you check the wiring between the speed sensor and the car battery first before buying a sensor.
