I take it's the new A3 then? Looks ok. Passenger might get cut in half in a bump judging by that sharp dash haha
Looks like they are still producing sh**e seats sadly.. It's so easy. Need seats? Go to Recaro. Job done. The best in the world.
Nor me.....looks like an after thought. Also, I don’t like the reflections on the tilted touchscreen.
Looks better than I though. Steering wheels seems the same as current S-Line flat bottomed one. Also, no gearknob, looks like a little switch. Not sureon the vents either. I’m sure it will look simetrical with the left side of the driver too but just the one plonked on the top of the mmi seems a bit weird.
Door handle looks like it has a drip guard to protect te windw switch, im not sure the door pocket will pass the carwow big bottle test
Where does this obsession with making screens that will eventually cross the entire dashboard? VC does everything I need, lots of configurability behind the scenes that once set stays set..........#dontgeddit
That look horrid. Hate all the angular dashboard look Audi are pushing these days. And I can't see a dial anywhere. So I take it everything will be controlled through the Infotainment system? Sorry, but it's soo wrong and dangerous. Really don't understand the obsession with every control within a car has to resemble someone smart phone. And it also looks like there is just a little stub for the gear selector, as in the new 911. Please I jumped ship to BMW when I did, and didn't hang around for the new S3.
https://www.topgear.com/car-news/opinion/opinion-rip-greatest-car-interior-21st-century Sums it up pretty well imo.
I'll wait for release before judging, but it's evolution tbh, buttons aren't needed so much these days & it will save space, wiring, it's a positive step even if the interior looks a bit like the exterior of the Tesla pickup. Gear lever is quite cool imho, don't need a huge lever for autos, it's pointless. I love tech so for me it's nice to see these steps forward.
It looks alright to me, that vent does look a bit out of place. Lets be honest though, the current A3 is a well loved car and the new generation has got big shoes to fill. I've been in a couple different cars this week, as a passenger and driver, of the two Mercedes (67 Eclass & 69 Cclass) each had irritating cabin noise, squeaks and rattles and a weird noise I couldn't put my finger on in the Cclass, yes the interiors look more up to date than my S3 but all that tech in the Mercedes doesn't come without its issues (E-class wouldn't reboot earlier this year, needed to go in for a new system). Also had a test drive of the new facelift A4 Avant, no noises and felt nicer than the Mercs, I find the new A4 interior nicer to look at and touch, and IMHO the styling is mega. So, if the next gen A3 is anything like the A4 in terms of build, bring it on. Until then I'm happy in my S3 Saloon, its very good at what it does IMO.
It looks the dog's... breakfast I love my S3 but with an effort like that my money could go elsewhere in two years time.
That does not look like a finished product, where is glove box and that sharp dashboard makes no sense.
https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/volks...gen-golf-r-to-be-the-fastest-ever-with-328bhp S3 no doubt will be the same.
No, just the headline being 328 bhp, the engines in 2 litre form have always seemed to be a match so would assume this will be the S3 engine as well.
Nice little increase in my opinion. Plus gives you bragging rights over the other new rivals released recently haha. Personally can't wait to see the finished article... supposed to come at Geneva, fingers crossed...
Yeh it’s still 20-30 on latest dep on GPF, will be interesting if they’ve been able to get more from the exhaust etc.
Currently got a 68 plate... had to get a Remus system fitted to sort the exhaust out, it was shockingly quiet. But the Remus proves you can have a gpf and good sound, so I don't know what they were playing at tbh!
Surely people weren't thinking it would be something different to the new A1 and Q3. Personally I don't like it, and like others don't see the fascination for touchscreens. Having been to BMW with my daughter at the weekend looking at the new 1 series I thought that dash was spot on, looks modern without trying to hard like Audi are doing at the moment. Every one to their own but at the moment I think Audi have lost the plot with their design both inside and out.
It'll always tempt those who wish to be in the latest toy. I wonder how many people upgraded from 300PS to 310PS, just to have the more powerful car? But it'll be those who like the Audi brand. Get the new cheap angular dashboard, and like every function going through an Ipad screen that'll be the one who upgrade. To be fair, there weren't many time I felt left wanting more power from my S3. Yes, ok and RS3 would get past that car in front a bit quicker, but as an overall package of power / speed / comfort / mpg, I think the S car's are the better all rounder compared to the RS cars. So the new car having 328bhp, will be plenty quick enough for most, while still returning half decent mpg. It also probably means the next RS3 will only geta mild power increase too. Which is probably right. The current car is blisteringly quick. So another 30 odd bhp would be about right. Would just be silly endowing the next RS3 with 450-500bhp.
I wonder if there is much more room for the S3 and RS3 to gain power now, their performance is too close to the higher priced RS models. The touch screens really put me off, as I’ve said before my partners car is all touch screen and it’s ****** dangerous to use, accident waiting to happen.
I sure miss the touchscreen of my Golf. Going to the S3 without one is a step backwards. I spend more time twisting the dial and clicking to get around the infotainment and find myself taking my eyes off the road much more often to be sure I'm on the correct icon before pressing. With touchscreen, tap the correct icon and job done.
