Hi all, happy to be back on as-net. I was here back in 2000 with my S3 and now I have an 8V RS3 from 12/2015 with 55k miles.

The car is in good condition but I noticed before the purchase that it had 255 tyres all round (that I knew I would have to change to 235 at the rear). However, now I’m wondering if this could actually have caused damage to the car?
Also, not evident during the test drive are some pretty serious vibrations under heavy acceleration in 3, 4 and 5th gears. It only happens 1 out of 10 times but still worrying. Has anyone had experience of this?

Finally, can I see the service history using the Audi app or do I need to pass by an Audi dealer to get the print outs?

cheers all!

Welcome

Get those 255 rears swapped for the correct 235 / 35 / 19 first then see what its like,

Serious vibrations as in ? through the bodyshell , pedals, steering wheel, feel it in the seat, sooo many variables here

Isn't there any Invoices with the car for services paid for / carried out ? You can sign up to Erwin Online to view your digital service history, not 100% on the app as i never use it.
Can't the garage selling it access the service history for you to view ?

Thanks for the reply. I need to measure if the wheels at the back are indeed smaller before swapping out for 235/35/19. If they are not staggered then I’ll keep them all at the same size I suppose?

Regarding the vibrations, there is severe shake through the steering wheel and happens when accelerating from low/medium revs. Doesn’t feel good at all but luckily happens only very occasionally.

I was able to sort out seeing the service history with Audi, all good.

You'll be able to tell as the rim width is stamped on the back of one of the spokes, 8J for 235
255 on the rear are wrong for the 8V I'm afraid, they should be 235

I have a squared set up; 8.5 all round with 255/30/19. Gonna be rather costly if I need to purchase 2x 8J rims and 4 new tires.

I’ve got 8.5 all round on aftermarket wheels and 235/35 MPS4 tyres, no issues.

So not oem rotor wheels then.

You can still put 235 on an 8.5J rim no problem, I run 235’s on my 8.5J rotors.

Pretty sure they are the standard rotor rims, albeit 8.5 all round

So someone’s changed the rears at some point then.

I am sure you know but the Saloon has a lot more space at the back than the SB. 255 will fit on 8.5" on the rear of the Saloon but on the SB it is known to be a problem and will depend on the amount the tyre sticks out past the rim. The Saloon also has different offset wheels from the SB.

Whoever fitted them probably read reports of them fitting easily and not realised it was on a Saloon

For anyone interested, I took the car to the local tyre specialist and we put 4 Pirelli P Zeros (correct, staggered sizes) and did a full geometry/alignment. This made the car 90% better but was told that all 4 wheels had been bent and to have them straightened ASAP as to not damage the tyres.

So, all in all I’m very happy with the car. Running smooth and next week will fix the wheels.

Next, can anyone advise who can do remote stage 1 tune on a 2015 Pfl?
