Luckily enough with our stock tips is that, they just pop off with gentle mallet tap. I found an exhaust adapter so I could use the tips I found so think will give it a go. Atm, I am cleaning the wheels, before the whole trip car prep. Wheels off, clean, bled and sealed. Calipers also repainted with Hammerite Silver Hammered effect paint. Turned out nice. Thought of Sline emblems on them but it may easily overdo the look. Already have valve caps with logo so think will stop there. Fronts done so far. Sent from H P20 PRO
Looking good mate, I need to take my tips off for a proper clean, she got treated last week to a bath and polish but it needs doing again as some scratches are still visible. Loving the fk1000p so far
Hi Sean, Plans put the rear lamps for me backwards a bit but will get them soon. Ordered that rubber lip/splitter thing for the front bumper and must say, I am impressed how it turned out. Instal took about 10-15 minutes with all the trimming. Nicely shaped to the bumper so it looks better than just round bit. What do you think? I like it and thinking of installing it under the rear bumper. Not as visible as at the front. Sent from H P20 PRO
That looks brilliant mate! What did you buy and where from? Do you imagine it will hold up ok? Is it already shaped to the bumper where it curves in in the middle? I'd rather throw that on than spend 130 quid on a splitter!
Thanx mate. After whole day in the sun, it is still holding on so think it will be ok. I will however tap it in with little screws to hold better and away from the bumper edge. To get it around in the bumper shape, had to cut out some triangle notches. Pictured it from underneath the bumper to show better. That was also my aim to try it out, before any more expensive measures taken place. Sent from H P20 PRO
Do you have a link to what you ordered mate? Did you follow a particular line under the bumper or just don't all by eye? A couple of screws in that should be fine I'd imagine and if it does get ripped off your not much out of pocket. Good job! Not sure of how it would look on the back I can't really picture it.
It was from fleeBay, Sean. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/283483752479 You can get various ones there. Colour edge, carbon type ect. I just went for a plain one and thinking of clear coating it as I didn't seen any gloss finish. Carbon like you can get floss but not plain. 2.5 meter lenhgt left me with 20-25cms pieces so tried them underneath the rear bumper, following the bumper edge and curvature. Looked nice and similar to those pieces: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/352628098750 Sent from H P20 PRO
Cheers for the link mate I would like gloss black to tie in with the grill but they don't seem to exist. The clear coat would crack wouldn't it? How about some.vinyl wrap?
Never mind just googled it and vinyl wrap on rubber is a no go. Surely is they can give it a gloss carbon look the same should be achievable in black.
If you use plasti dip glossifier it may not crack or flake off. Need to read up on this but nit major rush atm Sent from H P20 PRO
That looks properly smart. Nice work What front bumper have you got? Looks miles nicer than mine haha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanx mate. Wasn't expecting that result at all but it turned out I really do like it. I have an Sline bumper as it is the LeMans version. Which one do you have, SE? Sent from H P20 PRO
Yeah looks really smart. I’ve got an Sline aswell but the grill has a huge grey numberplate holder. I think it’s because you’ve got the facelift as my fog lights are different. I’ve added a facelift sline bumper to my list now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just now seen your avatar and figured out which model you have. Yes, mine is facelift, aka C6.5 The grille makes a big difference in appearance. With honeycomb grill in place, you can choose to install a numberplate holder or not. Behind that grey plastic you have another plastic piece so the front one cover the one behind. In order to install RS6 style grille without number plate holder, just straight plate, you would need to cut that second plastic out. It is a part of the bumper but nothing structural. Many threads about it here. Look around and you'll see what I was talking about and that, bumper change might not be needed. Unless you want to go for the whole look revamp. Sent from H P20 PRO
Yeah the grille makes a massive difference. Thanks for the details, that’s really helpful. I’ll have a look around. Think I need a facelift grille now . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If your after a honeycomb grill the seller I got mine from on eBay was brilliant. Arrive in 3 days from china well packed and great fit but the paint on the surround was so thin. I put my original chrome surround onto the new grill it was a bit of a pain to remove but got there in the end.
Hey Sean If you could send me the link to the seller it would be much appreciated. It’s not something I can do immediately but would look to do over the coming months. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
