Hi, new member here with an S4 Avant. Traded in my B7 V8 a month ago for it. Best decision I ever had. Only owned the car a month but mods so far are... Revo Stage 1 map Injen intake Back box delete with 3.5 inch black quads. Transmission insert. Before the end of the year will be Merc HX cooler (ordered) K sport 8 pot front brake set up TCU gearbox map Stage 2 map and supercharger pulley upgrade. Next year 20’ Judd t311r wheels. It won’t allow me to upload images due to file size but I did manage to put some up In the gallery. Thanks.
Welcome to ASN @Tonto1977, nice mods and an expensive shopping list it is . I am sure you'll like the S4 as well as the forum - a lot of helpful folks here on the B8 section.
Welcome! How do you find stage 1 compared to standard? Lots of people seem to skip it and go straight to 1+ or MRC stage 2 so not many stage 1 around.
It isn’t bad. Not worth the money though looking back. It’s certainly more responsive but not that huge of difference over stock. Stage 2 next for sure Scotty. TCU end of this month on stage 1 but brakes for me before stage 2. The stock brakes are ****.
Welcome mate. Great choice and I look forward to seeing the mod progress! If you haven't already, get it secured as much as possible, few of us had these stolen recently. Search for recent posts, lots of security advice on here.
TCU tune done last weekend for the gearbox. I’d recommend it. The higher rev limit and launch control at 4K instead of 3 is pretty good.
Quick update. Fitting Eibach lowering springs tomorrow, Merc racing cooler, plugs, oil and filter and new coolant in prep for smaller charger pulley on the 22nd. Car also got polished and ceramic coated last week. Fitted Judd 311R wheels also.
CTS intake fitted with front mount Merc HX cooler. Smaller supercharger pulley and another remap next. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
As expected it looks perfect lowered! Smaller pulleys and superchargers bring back memories of my MINI days with Cooper S’s. They used to whine like mad with a small pulley and Intake so I’m looking forward to hearing yours
It does whine louder now with CTS as the video here had the Injen intake on it. This was taken a few weeks ago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well on Friday there my car was in for the smaller pulley and belt fitted from Revo. It’s now stage 1+ on their software which is the equivalent of stage 2 I guess on the likes of APR etc. The car is so smooth it doesn’t actually feel that quick but when you see the Speedo fly up it’s insane. I’ve had quick cars in my time but this is such a joy to drive. next will be Brakes and an exhaust and then that’s the car finished. No more mods. So... stage 1+ Revo software TCU gearbox tune CTS intake Marc HX cooler Back box delete Transmission insert Eibach pro springs Judd 311R wheels. Et40 front et35 rear. 255/35/19 9.5J all round. Exhaust TBC Brakes TBC
MB Motorsport in Ellon Aberdeenshire. It’s worth the Trip Lemonski. If I was doing it again I’d get it all done at once instead of stage by stage.
Thanks for swift reply. I live in Braemar so that may be the closest for me. I have heard of them, but no experience of them. Good guys then to use?
Very Good mate. I’m very anal on who I let touch my car and these guys are great at what they do. I think you can get more power from APR software but the closest is either Fife or Glasgow. I’ve still to put my car on a Dyno but the things a rocket now. If you do call them tell them Tony with S4 recommended them to you. Matty is the guy that runs it and a really genuine guy. He will give you all the prices etc when you get in touch with them. The Merc HX cooler makes all the difference with these. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Soapy Sunday. Autobrite snow foam and finished off with sonax detailing spray. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Merry Christmas to me. 28th December full Scorpion exhaust to go on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well. Full Scorpion fitted on Sunday there and the car seems quieter than stock. Noticeably quicker further up the Rev range but very quiet indeed. All I can hear now is the charger whine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I had that same exhaust fitted to mine for a week. Had to take it off as it droned so much at certain revs. It definitely was not quieter than stock on my car, although on hard acceleration it did sound brilliant.
I’ve acute hearing mate and it’s not loud by any means. I’ll probably be taking it off as it’s too quiet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Is it a resonated system? If so you could switch to a non res section to save removing the full exhaust? Just a thought I’m not to up on S4’s
You had a rear box delete on your car, so is the Scorpion quieter than your current exhaust with that set up, or are you saying it is quieter than an OEM stock exhaust.
It’s quieter than the back box delete on the OEM exhaust. I’d say it’s borderline the same as stock at certain revs. I’m quite surprised how quiet it is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah I’m swapping the resonated downpipes for an X pipe. See if that changes things. Just need it louder and get the DSG farts back as it’s so quiet they have gone as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well the Scorpion exhaust is an utter let down. Removed the front resonators and it’s still just as quiet. If I was doing it again I’d just have got a Miltek race exhaust. I don’t mind the car being quiet when driving normally but I need something to hear when it’s driven hard. Back box delete again on this system. Can’t believe I paid £1270 for an exhaust I can’t hear. Lesson learned. Never buy scorpion if you want a different tone to your car.
I feel your pain.....I fitted a scorpion non resonated exhaust on a previous R56 cooper s and it droned terribly at 70-80 mph so much so I swapped it out for a Milltek then that was too quiet even with a sports cat downpipe. So ended up fitting a John Cooper works cat back mated to the milltek downpipe and it sounded perfect plenty of pops and bangs and lovely snarl on acceleration! 3rd time lucky and load of money later I was happy
Yeah I’ve pretty much butchered this one when I’m done. Even the DSG farts are gone with the full system it just saps every bit of noise. Not what I wanted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Okay so. Ended up keeping the front resonators and middle box and deleted the back boxes. It’s perfect now. Deep tone and little drone but manageable. Tried the back box delete with the front resonators removed (middle box only) epic noise but far too loud. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
