After 3 years with my 1.9TDI C5 Final Edition I thought it time to upgrade!

I was looking for months for a well specced facelift 3.0tdi quattro auto (not in black or silver), just about gave up and thought I'll do another year in the C5 when this popped up!

2010 Avant 3.0tdi Le mans with a healthy number of options!

105k on the clock, full history and in decent nick externally (few marks here and there but nothing I can't polish out or make look better with a bit of elbow grease).

Options:-

Exclusive Paint Misano red pearl
HDD Sat Nav with MMI 3G with CD changer
Audi Music Interface
BOSE® surround sound system
Mobile High with BT
Electric Front Memory Seats
Audi parking system plus
Tyre pressure loss indicator
Rear window and side window blinds
Power operated tailgate
Door mirrors - electric fold & Dim
High beam assist

Picked it up on 7th Feb and had its maiden voyage to Disneyland Paris on the 11th, the car is a total step change from the old 4 pot manual C5.

The trip highlighted that the wheels were well out of balance (odd as they've got nearly new conti's on) which I've had sorted, but discovered a couple of slightly bent rims which a local repair place say they can straighten without re-furbishing the wheels as they are in decent condition.

Plans are to install factory DAB as it currently has a Pure Highway system in (just waiting on a couple of bits), some LED/lighting upgrades, I'd like to get the gearbox oil/filter changed but still looking for a good garage to do it and ultimately I'd like to remap it.

If anyone has any recommendations on who could do the gearbox oil change in South Yorkshire and opinions on who does a good remap for these (I don't want a silly torque spike map that will kill the box).

Car looks great. Its good to see another which isn't silver, grey or black!

I can recommend an Audi specialist and a company for the remap, but they are both in North Yorkshire, so it depends if you want to travel that far.

Hi Simon,

I don't mind travelling if the work is worth it. Do they do gearbox services too?

Regards,
John

Brilliant purchase, mate. Congratulations on a rare find and spec.

Good luck with it.

Nice Car John. Enjoy.

Where did you get your component protection removed when you did DAB retrofit?

I have used Big Fish Tuning in Stokesley before for a remap.

They seem very knowledgeable when it comes to tuning and the maps are done on a rolling road and set up to the car, not generic. I think that they may also be able to remove CP.
For any maintenance work I go to Phil at Elite Vehicle Services in Thornaby. He is Audi trained, so knows what he is doing and his rates are sensible.

I had my CP removed at Falcon Engineering in Middlesbrough, but it took them 2 or 3 goes and they couldn't do the coding afterwards to set it up for non-Bose, so I can't really recommend them for that. I think that AutoData vehicle diagnostic kit is what they used. I was going to use my local Audi dealers, but having initially said they would do it, they then refused when I tried to book the car in as I hadn't bought the DAB unit from them or from the local TPS.

Looks lovely. Deffo do the gearbox service. Audi auto boxes are not the best and the sealed for life speil is nonsense.
Where is your location?

The 3.0tdi ZF box is just about built proof, and there are plenty on the road with well over 100K miles that have never had oil changes. I'm not saying don't have the oil changed, but they are good boxes and there are very few posts on the Audi forums with failed 3.0TDI ZF boxes.

Seems to be a mix of opinion on this, reason I'd like to do it is to try and get the box to manage another 100k!
However a mate of mine had a 2.7tdi Tip Quattro auto from 60-270k and he never changed the box oil.

My box in my old A6 C6 3.0TDi had 180K miles before it was serviced, and it was done by Mackie Transmission (http://www.mackie-transmission.com/index.php/en/), They did an oil and filter change and said the box as in good condition. The box did feel better after the oil change but it was not night and day.

One of the auto boxes that Audi did get a bad rap over was the CVT box that was used in the 2.0TDi engine (for the A6) until it was replace by stronic. The CVT did have a lot of problems but many owners never had the gearbox serviced as it should be done every 38K miles, and it was a reason for a fair amount of failures.

I would really not worry about your gearbox, it will easy do another 100K miles, but I would get the box serviced every 80-100K miles.
