Just been trying to get a few car insurance quotes sorted and it looks like because I recently moved to a brand new street in a new development, at least one insurance company are refusing to quote as a result of of this new postcode. How does living in a brand new address affect the insurance other than some agents refusing to cover the postcode? Will the premiums be generally higher? Is this a common thing to happen?

It may be they don't have the postcode on their system yet or the others around it are poor and they expect this one to be. It could also be that they don't have any claims stats available for that postcode yet so they don't know how to rate it. It'll depend on the individual insurer and also on how many characters of the postcode they use in their rating.

Well, after calling around over the last week or so and getting many quotes, I finally got my car insured for another year. Not like last year, but cheaper than the rest of the quotes I had. Thank you Sky Insurance :)
