Hi everyone, my local Audi specialist just told me I need a new Catalytic Converter due to my motor failing it's MOT on emissions. They want £900 for it, my car is only with £500. I've checked eBay and theres a million of them on there but none seem to be for mine
The part number they have quoted is VW-1J02545065SX, which i cannot find anywhere, anyone know of a cheap aftermarket alternative??

thanks in advance

Hmm....

The part number you've typed isnt quite right, the closest match i can see is 1J2253208SX, which is the downpipe/cat for an AGU engine.

Your AUM should have 1J2253208QX

I imagine the difference is the AGU cat wont have a location for a rear lambda, whereas the AUM cat will.

Hi thanks for the reply, I've attached the quote - with the part number, which i have correctly listed. The part you have listed is not available.

I should point out I'm not looking to know the difference between an AUM / AGU Cat, as I said in my message, I'm looking for help to find an equivalent Cat that is affordable and available .......and not £900.
thanks

...and for what its worth aragorn is correct to bring up the differences between the part numbers as while you may not be looking to know te difference it will make a difference if you end up with the wrong part... the AUM requires the rear lambda position so whatever solution you end up with you will have to either make sure it has one or get a boss welded in if not..

Which is why i asked for the correct part, so I dont have to do any welding etc. With all due respect, I asked a specific question.

...and gave a specific part number which as it turns out was the incorrect one for your vehicle.. the response is valid

I suggest you wind your neck in a little and be a little less patronising when people offer advice...

The problem with most forums is the amount of misinformation that gets posted... these are public forums and are indexed by search engines so you are not the only one that could benefit from a resolution to your question... correcting said information not only benefits you but the wider audience...
