mysterious switch

there is a switch that ive onlyjust noticed on the door jam on the drivers side of my as sportback. there are 2 selections and looks like some sort of alarm? anyone know????

One is alarm

One is motion/tilt sensor - eg if your car is locked up and a thief fancies your alloys, the alarm will sound if the car is raised more than 5 degrees I think

With the lights on the switches off, this means the alarms are active (I think)

Yeah the alarm one keep's the alarm on whist you can leave a child in the car , say your nipping into the shop for a paper you flick the switch so it lights up red and lock the car the alarm will be on but child can wave arms etc in the car , it will only go off iff a window or door in broken into ...

And like boydie says the other is so a breakdown truck can tow your car off without the alarm screaming but also locked ...

On a side note, you would struggle for anyone to notice the alarm going off, it's that quiet (for a car alarm!)
