Tried a bit of the swirl removal polish today by hand only on bit where the webbing is and it has improved.

Good job mate, these so named swirl removers have polymer fillers in them which disguise/fill the fine fine scratches in your clear coat, which will eventually wash away, so..... Man up and start spinning a disc with a pad attached to it lol

Tried the wash mitt and wax today.

The mitt is excellent, lifted the dirt and looks good quality so should last.

The wax: just used a small amount and left 4 minutes to cure on each section of the car. Left a glossy finish.

First attempt in polishing the car with a DA polisher today. WOW what a difference!

    F742CD69-0664-4D3D-9B18-FFE7BF7213D4.jpeg

Used G3 clay mitt and had some megs ultimate compound to use up and megs ultimate liquid wax to try.

    0C679885-FC2C-4542-A94D-D166B39AF71F.jpeg

The polish went on great, just used a small amount on the pad. Set the speed to 4 and off l went. Would have liked to do the whole car without stopping but it was taking longer than expected so a few panels at a time then buffed off.

Straight away could see and feel the difference than my mere human hand. But the manual hand was still needed for the sills and curved parts of the bodywork etc.

Time to change the disc and apply the liquid wax to the pad. Lowered the speed to 3 and again went smoothly and was proving good results. It did use more wax up and this was noticeable when l came to washing the discs.

Could have squeezed half a bottle of wax back out of the disc. It really soaked it up. So maybe not the best wax to use with this DA.

Thought it would be quicker than by hand but took the same amount of time.

Great machine and did a superb job. So will definitely be using it to polish. Will have to research my next wax application. Sure l will find it on this forum.

Here are the the results. In the shade.

Tip of the machine polishing iceberg mate, wax application via a pad is best done with a paste wax as you now know lol l would say the more you research machine polishing, pads/compounds/polishes the better results you'll achieve, l would also say its the most addictive area/process of detailing a car just because of the results that can be achieved.

I don’t bother with a pressure washer so l recently bought a pressure sprayer for my pre wash. ( ready for autumn/winter)

I have surfex hd to finish off to mix with water but this decreaser maybe a bit to harsh.

So looking for something else to fill the pressure sprayer.

What pre wash mixes can you recommend please?

Weekly wash day so had a bit of time this morning to try the DA again ( got the bug now) with some different wax this time.

Only paste wax I had was a dusty gold tin of simoniz. Tried it on the boot and one door. Binned it off after that it was taking to much time to buff off. To much like hard work!

So grabbed the next best thing I had, Chemical Guys Butter wax, this was used on the doors, quarter panels and bonnet.

Went on a lot better than the MEGS ultimate wax last week.

    AAEF43E9-EFF9-49FF-B46C-9C664CD9CF82.jpeg

Followed by a booster coating of reload mix.

Beats going to the gym and cheaper.

Since the weather has been wetter lately thought it would be good time to try out my new pressure sprayer with a pre wash mix.

5-1 mix using angel wax cleanliness.

The car was slightly soiled, so a quick spray, leave and rinse and it was ready just for a shampoo. Wham-bam done.

Pressure sprayer was great for getting a prewash on since I don’t use snow foam or even own a pressure washer.

I use a pressure sprayer for Bilt Hamber snow foam. Doesn't give the big dramatic effect but works well at softening the muck and incredibly economical as it only needs be diluted to 4%

Going to put my neck on the chopping block here....and say...Go get yourself some Scholl S20 or even better some Sonax profiline perfect finish mate......you'll then up the gloss levels a few notches ....they aint expensive.....and are far more user friendly than the Megs, but l do think Daytona wears a polymer sealant better than a wax

    Down tools for winter now.

Don't think I will get a time to give the old girl another polish now.

So recently applied another good spray of 'MEGS ultimate fast finish'.

Not expected it to do what is says on the tin, protect it for a full year but be happy to get a few months of protection.

Just pre-wash,wash,dry & spray for now on, to try and keep it looking shiny.

Here is after-dark photo for a change.
