your or Bill metal things are very beautifull
Tuffty how do you find these? I'm in need of new tyres and can't believe how cheap these are and they get great reviews!
While were on the subject of tyres, do you think there would be much benefit going to 245s? Obviously with the appropriate rim size. Or the additional rotating/ unsprung mass ruin any gain from additional grip
They are OK I guess... Tbh I am the wrong person to ask... The **** cold/wet weather doesn't do the justice and they are worse than a decent road based tyre from cold... They seem to need heat in them to work and I don't drive hard enough often enough to really comment... Maybe the warmer summer months will be better but I tend not to drive fast in cold damp conditions
Depends what your application is... Is was going to go to 235/40 assy 2's before trying these as my power level made it feel justifiable but again you are asking the wrong person...
On the road I doubt it will make any real difference... On a track then maybe but itself relative... Tyres are just one piece of the handling package
As for the unsprung mass thing... You just turn the boost up or fit a bigger turbo... Problem solved right?
Cheers. I think I'm going to give them a go, found them for £281 for a set of four on tyre leader. Got to be worth a shot
Thanks for the reply mate
I got this last week I'm hoping to get a good 2 bar out of it
Gtx3071r will this give me more power than my ko4?
I'm weighing up 8" or 8.5" lightweight wheels. I'm thinking I'll stick with 17s for the handling side of things. So many choices to make when building a race car nobody warned me!!
CTS kit? Ewww... Good luck mate...
I did take what you said into consideration, but after talking to a couple of people who use it (one with over 500bhp) both rhd, I decided to go ahead. The 2.5" dump is a bit of a bummer and I'll get new coolant and oil lines but apart from that it looks great.
Guess we will find out when I fit it
Just because it 'works' doesn't make it right... But I am not gonna go off on that discussion...
So today started like this....
....then this happened...
Swapped the cam position sensor wheel and cam pulley over... I have an ARP bolt so can reuse it but OE bolts need replacing...
Used new seals and VVT gasket...
Cleaned up the chain and VVT unit ready to put back in the head...
...then as things appeared to be going sooooo well she fought me again lol...
...so out came the life saving kit again...
Locktight and a stud like the other one and we are done...
...and all done..
Ran the engine up with the MAF unplugged and charge pipe off to make sure there were no issues or codes... then put her all back together again...
The drive home was interesting... Idle is no different... Boost has dropped as expected (open loop boost control)... Feels no less powerful despite running less than 1.5 bar... seems no less drivable than before...
If anything she feels more 'eager'... a third gear overtake felt smooth and relentless... should be interesting when she is knocking on the door of 2bar again
Didn't realise you couldn't reuse the OEM cam pulley bolt. Any idea of the part number?
Be able to find it using the parts base link in the stickies...
This machine just gets better and better! Your making us all very jealous Paul!
Looking forward to seeing the figures once the map has been tweaked. I fitted the IE intake cam to my car last week, no dyno figures yet but there's a noticeable difference in spool and mid range power.
Slightly slower spool better mid range?
Spool appears around 500rpm sooner compared to standard cam.
Wow that's good.
Do you have figures before the cam to compare when you get it retuned?
Yes I have original dyno plots from when it was mapped 14 month ago at badger 5. When I have the map tweaked I will post the results as there isn't a great deal of information on after market cams for the 1.8T.
Cheers man. Got my parts man on the case for a replacement
I have the week off work as I have 15 days to use up before the end of June
Been lovely so far and have been doing a spring detail on the car...
Not sure if its because I have been using the car to go to work on the motorway or not but there was a layer of aweful yellow shizzle over the bottoms of the doors which took some shifting...
But after a bit of elbow grease and a lick over with ultrafina I banged on a few layers of (the now discontinued ) Jeffs Werstat Acrylic
...and done a bit of cleaning in the engine bay
Just got the interior to do which will include refeeding the leather etc and a good clean of the wheels and sealing with some C5
Took a 'day off' to pop over to Bills to lend a hand as my back was killing me (getting too old lol) so have been cleaning parts from Gops S3
Then this happened!!!
...resulting in this
Just saw this on facebook, brilliant! can't wait to see what it's going to make when the boost is upped a bit!
Wow that's cracking!
Really shows how much standard cams were holding the car back
Wow! That's all i can say. And you just made my shopping list longer.
Can't reuse oem bolt but can reuse arp cam bolt
Ace results mate! I can only imagine how it would feel now!
It's a shame that when you look under the bonnet it looks completely standard...
Just kidding mate!! Can't believe you are hiding over 560 horses under there!!
edit: Has this idea grown on you at all?
Any numbers available for the cams?
what do you mean any numbers available?
VVT active? These work with std engines/pistons/vvt cars yes if thats the question asked
Hmm cant find the english words. I mean lift and degree.
intake 8,78mm, 210°, 4° after top dead
exhaust 10,25mm, 210°, 8° pre top dead
something like this
I think that info is highly classified lol. It's badger5 spec
Great results tufty, and congrats to you and all who've worked on the car.
It really must feel mighty.
Tbh most of the work is a testament to tufftys attention to detail and crazy amount of patience, it's nice to see his dream come to fruition. Good work PT
Not very polite to someone who is clearly not English and only after a little tech detail
Tuffty's influence is rubbing off onto Bill .
It's just great to see something like this come together and deliver like it has.
hehe, thats okay. i understood that this is his business.
