My mate has a 1.6 petrol A3 is making a few strange noises. Somebody told him it needs a new chain. He has been for a quote to buy, but there are 2, but can not tell which one he would need. Has anyone else out there experienced these problems, or know what the fault is.

Can you get better video? I mean a bit longer, pop up the hood and try to locate place the sound coming from? However yes seem to be a loose chain, for correct chain check the engine mode (sticker in boot) and then tell in ECP (or other place you taking it) that you need for that engine code.
