Was driving along today, and all of a sudden the ignition key fell out of the hole and landed on the centre console!! The engine didn't stop and the steering lock merficully didn't engage - I'm sure the electronics don't permit this to happen whilst you are moving anyway (I hope) - but anyway I put the thing back in and it interlocked properly as it is supposed to.

However it didn't exactly do much for my confidence in this new fangled technology - give me an old point and twist lock on the side of the steering column anyday. Has this happened to anyone else??

Never heard of that, I would be surprised if the column lock would engage at speed, I would have thought there would be some kind of failsafe in place.
How many keys / weight have you hanging on your key?.

Karl.

I believe there are two recesses on the sides of the key fob that can get clogged up with fluff and dirt. My key fob had a habit of popping straight out
