So today i set about doing a "full" detail on my S3. In fairness to start with the car wasn't that dirty as i washed it last week and it has has a few coats of Autoglym extra gloss protection over the last few months too but it wasn't giving me any wow factor after application, very good at protecting but thats about it!
Started with the usual wash with AG shampoo then dried off with a micro fibre drying towel.
I then did the touch test on each panel and found the bottoms of the doors and wheel arches needed a clay, i used the megs quick clay kit.
Then moved onto polishing. Having used SRP for the last god knows how many years I decided to order some of the auto finesse triple all in one, a very similar product to SRP but much easier to use and a lot less dusty i did the whole car using a micro fibre using about 3-5 small pea sized blobs per panel as a little goes a long way! (although a pad would of been easier) applying light pressure all over and letting it dry to a haze then buff off using another clean micro fibre.
I then set about waxing, this is the first time i have used wax and in fairness i was a little sceptical about using the collinite 476S and nearly sent it back as i was convinced i needed a sealant (poor boys EXP) after reading the polished bliss guide but i went ahead anyway and used it, the results surprised me.
Everyone knows Audi paint is hard to get a decent shine from, especially silver but i reckon I've managed to pull it off. The collinite is really easy to apply, i used a megs foam applicator putting it on thin and even and left it for literally a couple of minutes before buffing off, leave it for too long and its a ****** to remove, do a quick test with your finger if its not oily get it buffed off!!
Wheels i used the valet pro bilberry wheel cleaner (although i need some iron X) and then quickly sealed with AG EGP until i order some poor boys sealant!
Tyres - i can highly recommend the megs high gloss endurance tyre gel put it on thinly with a sponge/foam applicator and it won't throw any up the arches!!
