Front lights was looking abit milky so I gave them a flick over with 800-1200 grade paper then a polish up but I still need to get my da out for a proper going over

And now almost finshed plus private plate gone back to the old owner

Shocking how much stuff you can take out of your s3

Have you weighed all the stuff you've pulled out?

I wouldn't mind betting you'll be surprised by just how much lard it's been carrying around.

I know mine's a different model(and therefore even heavier),but swapping the brakes for a big brake kit shaved around 15kgs off,the wheels were another 10kgs,and the rear seats when I get around to it are a whopping 50kgs.

The heated front buckets are also heavyweights at around 25kgs per side.

Good luck with the build, and you've already gained yourself quite a few bhp/tonne.

I thought the seats in my evo was heavy but Dam.....S3 seats are so back breaking but I've got a sort of bucket seats to go which are so much lighter.Car does feel slightly quicker.Once it starts getting colder I will start taking the sound deadening as its so much easier when the weather is cooler and it breaks off in chunks

I'm getting on a bit now,so I want some of the comforts left in the car,but the rear seats just don't get used,so I think they're coming out soon.

I still want to get the front seats sorted and have my eyes on a set of Tillet B1 seats, but only when I've saved a bit!

The original buckets are quite sought after,so there may be some value there, but like you say,the weight is amazing.

If I can get the weight of mine down to around 1400kg or a bit less,I'd be happy enough, and looking at around 400bhp/tonne,which would be nice, without being too ****** uncomfortable.

Mine is a full out sprinting and hill climbing car so no comforts at all but it still needs to be road legal as I still love the odd car meets

Kind of like my old Escort was!

No comforts,no carpets and no heater.

You'll love it I'm sure!

Was bored today so I drove into my lockup and started chopping the sound deadening for a few hours

You have a similar approach to weight as a very good mate of mine on all of his builds.

There must be quite a pile of bits now.

The Morrison bag is starting to fill up and get heavy so I will weigh it when its all out to see what sort of weight saving from just the sound deadening and I'm cutting all the bits that hold the rear seats on and I've bought a round metal hole maker to cut holes out of some panels that I can get away with ;)So as soon as I'm back from my holiday for 3.5 weeks it will be crack on time

I've seen that technique before, and my mate I was talking about it very fond of it!

Are you planning on a weld-in cage?

Weld in cage but I'm Debaiting weather too buy one or build my own one to my spec

I guess there's advantages and disadvantages either way,but I think you know what you're up to!

I'm kind of thinking about a half cage for mine,as I want a bit of practicality left for the road, but the rear seats are on their way out,and then a bit of trimming to sort out.

Right got back off our holiday in Spain for 3 and a half weeks so not done much but bought some bits while I was out there v3 rentless mani, bung for my hole when I take the rear wiper out and a pair of one piece headlights
I've started stripping them down to paint black

I won't be stripping it out fully,as I've had a real hair-shirt car before, and I'm too old for that now!

Rear seats are worth around 50kgs,and the few other bits like brake calipers and wheels have shaved a bit more off the total, and I do still fancy at least one, maybe two Tillet seats which would cut another 30kgs from the car.

I thought about a half cage, but will probably settle for a Unibrace or two.

Fronts are Porsche and I will try and uprate the rears if I can get a nice set :)

I'm still having problems trying to find the right place for all my engine parts

My first call is to Integrated Engineering.

They do a lot of parts for your engine as well as mine.

http://www.performancebyie.com/

If you drop them a line I'm sure they'll be able to help.....Cassidy is very efficient.

But I'm still unsure on what to use because I've had 3 people say 3 different things which has totally done me in

I know what you mean.....I've found the same thing over and over again.

In the end,I've often taken a bit of a dive, and gone with something that has good feedback from other areas, and so far,as with IE for instance,it's served me very well.

The quality of their stuff is excellent, and their customer service is amazing.

Sorted a place out to get all my bits so I will be paying for that on the phone Monday morning
Nice spec and it should be able to handle what I want so let's see what I get with my gt30 first then take it from there.Just cams and triple plate clutch :).....Been stripping down bits off my engine that I'm using for the rebuild while ive has a spare bit of time and ive had to order loads of bits to help me with building the engine as ive not got any special tools for that kind of work so it's all going good

I think that tufty and Badger Bill are the guys to talk to,but I know you've already looked them up.

Those two will be able to give you any help and direct you to the right parts.

500bhp is I think attainable, and can be reliable if built correctly(for which read expensively!).

I've spoken to both and they sure know there stuff but I got a few quotes from tuners and gone with the best
Place that's going to get me there :)

Interesting looking build, I hadn't seen this before.

Which porsche calipers are those? I think the question above was asking if they were from the front or rear or a porsche.

Good luck with it!

Nice motor mate, when you did your headlights were they easy to dismantle and spray, also did you have to prepare your front grill before spraying. I'm wanting to tackle this myself but worried in case I muck it up. Looking forward to seeing the finished project.
