Soooo….

It itched and I scratched

Welcome Maya!

Shes a 2016 AUDI 8V RS3 (CZGB engine) with 105k km on the clock. Very well looked after (cosmetically interior and exterior) with full Audi Service History, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Tyres all around, blacked out badges etc.

She sounds amazing. Really brutal for a stock car..I have never experienced something like this from a stock exhaust vehicle. Drive is solid and heavy. Steering is also heavy which I like a lot. This is also my first Audi Quattro vehicle…the Gen 5 Haldex really inspires a “confident drive” if you know what I mean. One actually feels too confident and I’m sure I’ll meet Mr. Oversteer someday! (I’m used to it by now with all the FWD cars that I owned haha!)

Anyway..enough babbling..here is some pics:

First “modification” I did was to load the latest OEM ECU & TCU software…the ECU had two new revisions…the TCU had nothing.

I also ran on-road logs…timing retardation is about -4/-6 degrees..intake temps was around 44-49...peak boosting around 1.4bar and holding 1.2-1.3bar through mid-rev-range and settling at 1.1bar at 6.5k rpm. All on our 95 octane fuel.

I feel a Stage 1 ECU Remap (95 octane orientated) will be ideal.

Decat the exhaust and they sound insane. Best sounding car I have ever owned and that includes my M5C.

Maya went for some quick TLC at Klean Garage. In the new year we will do full paint correction with 3 year Paint Ceramic coating but for now we did:

• Super Klean
• Leather Klean
• Gyeon Leather Ceramic coating

Le Clue also managed to restore the alcantara on the steering wheel. The “fluffiness” is back!

I can just imagine! My decat downpipe is ready to go on…but I don’t want to attempt the installation without a car lift!

Basic service done. Now I can sleep.

New Oil
New Oil Filter
New Spark Plugs
New Ignition Coil Packs
New Coolant
New Cabin Filter (I will get a charcoal activated one but the store didn’t have stock)

First time under the car and I can honestly say not one oil leak / coolant leak. Not even a hint of “oil sweat” - Maya is truly in an excellent mechanical condition and I intend in keeping it that way.

Later this year, gearbox / mechatronics & diff service.

Then some hardware modifications

Oh and I almost forgot to mention:

Stage 1 ECU Remap
Stage 2 TCU Remap

She pulls strong

Hmmm the plugs look actually fine. According to the service history, oil change was done 500km ago….The oil looked pretty clear / newish so that is a good sign

This time around I went with Liqui Moly Leichtlauf High Tech 5W40. It meets the VW 502 00 and VW 505 00 specification but more importantly it has a very high viscosity index rating of 190 which I like very much. The price of this oil is pretty expensive I must say…and the RS3 takes a good 6.5-7 litres

Cylinder 1 coilpack was a bit of brownish / rust colour but the others were fine.

Quick acceleration video after the Stage 1 ECU Remap & Stage 2 TCU Remap.

Stage 1 tune makes a HUGE difference vs Stock.

Second gear rolling…not bad for this heavy vehicle.

Smooth acceleration, more low down torque, better throttle response, quicker gearshifts etc..

Proof is in the pudding…the logs looks really good.

Spot on AFR’s..smooth boost profile, reaching boost targets effortlessly and very mild timing advance.

What can I say…excellent & sensible tuning from Avon Tuning, like always

Got the chance to apply Detailease Ceramic Nano Guard after the foam wash.

Must be honest, I’m quite impressed with the results. Easy to apply with damp microfibre cloth and wipe off with clean microfibre cloth.

Nice and shiny!

Rogue Performance Catless Downpipe ready to go on! Can’t wait to hear how she sounds!

I’m not not going to attempt installing this on the floor with jack stands…I’ll rather pay a local exhaust shop with a car lift….the videos guides I looked at..seems like it takes a whole day.

That is such a nice car, and to be honest a far nicer shape than the 8Y, its has the right amount of angles and corners to be really sutle.
Very nice.

Why pay inflated 8y prices when one of these is sooo much better.

i agree to a certain agree but the 8Y / 8V2 engines are so much superior.

But it's not allways about the engine, i could look at that car all day long and think , yes , i like that a lot .
Under the bonnet is relevant yes but when you shut the bonnet it's all about the body, that car looks fast enough just parked up. :yahoo:

i hear you but little things like no USB port really annoys me haha! But all in all…I’m really enjoying my 8V1 RS3…I came from MK7 Gti Clubsport 5Door DSG. It’s nice to have Quattro!

And enjoying your car is what makes all the difference.
A lack USB port wouldn't worry me at all given the small inconvenience it would cause and so many options to deal with it.

Leyo Motorsport Intake fitted to the RS3

I'm not really concerned about any power increase (i believe there is) but I did this purely for the improved intake noises. It really brings a smile to my face.

I would have loved a carbon intake (Eventuri) but at this stage I cannot justify the price tag for cone on a stick.
Especially at my power levels..I don't really think I would benefit anything other than aesthetics.
