Hi guys and gals. After bit of info and personal views.
Got a a3 2.0tdi 170, every toy on there ect but just isnt pressing all right buttons, Am thinking of trading in for a s3. Im not gonna ask the daft question of what they like on fuel ect, more so on side of serviceing cost ect is there anything different that needs looking after more.

Any opinions would be great. Has anyone gone from a a3 tdi to S3?

Cheers

Ashley

Great choice and wise decision mate if you can afford bit more money towards petrol. Servicing, oils and overall mantaining works out about the same. Insurance will go up a bit depending on NCB and age and thats about it. You will love the new motor just make sure you put a remap as soon as you get it and then its only joy in front of you:].

I moved from a 1.6FSI, which was getting around 40mpg to a 2.0TFSI which gets around 30mpg and with my mileage I'm putting in around an extra £40 a month, which IMO, for a quick petrol car is well worth it.

Insurance on a 2.0TFSI was cheaper than that of a 2.0TDI 170, no idea why... but even just the model "S3" will undoubtably bump the insurance up a bit.

I went from a 58 plate A3 170 TDI manual to an 09 S3 manual. Service wise Audi offer 2 years free servicing on approved used cars, or at least my dealer does. use a VAG specialist to keep costs down after that.

In my experience, buy a DSG. much much better.

Power wise....it's a bit different :) Fuel also goes from 600 miles a tank to 300 or less. (all approx)

You'll miss the diesel, but not for long :)

Insurance wasn't too different. I'm 22. and my new s-tronic S3 black edition is cheaper to insure than my 09 S3 manual. NUTS considering the sat nav etc in the new is worth so much!

Go for it I say, only live once!

general servicing isn't that expensive, all depends on the miles, at the end of the day is just fast A3, depending where you want it serviced, a good indy will charge about £230 and that will be a full service, plugs, oil & filters etc, there are a few parts that cost more come replacement, such as brakes, purely to the sizeof them, also if your going manual, need to think about the weak clutch, so if you can find one that got a sachs clutch you'll save yourself £1000 in the future

my 09 plate will be at Worcester Audi with 30k on the clock with a Sachs clutch and DMF fitted recently. sprint blue. bodywork immaculate :) on Monday...ready for my swap to the ibis BE S3 :)

if you do sell the tdi, get in touch, as im after one
