hi, first post, hoping someone can help.

Bought my first Audi the other day, a 2008 a4 sline avant, loads of toys, amazing car, love it!

However, I’m having a problem with the mmi, I can’t get it to turn on.

When I turn it on, it comes up with the splash screen for around 10 seconds, then just turns back off again.

The car had been sat for a few months before I bought it, so was hoping it was maybe a weak battery playing games with the electronics, drove it for a couple of hours so it should have charged it up well, but no change with the screen, got the battery checked and apparently it’s good, no problems there, however he did say it could do with a charge, and to take it for a run. (Like I say I’d already taken it out for a couple of hours)

The symptoms I have:

-Screen powers up to the splash screen, but turns back off.

-No sound through the B+O system

-Cd changer works, takes cds and gives them back

-Nav unit has power, ejects the disk and takes it back

-Centre consol buttons don’t light up when pressed, but when you press them, they all try to turn the system on.

-Steering wheel buttons don’t do anything.

Anyone had the same\similar?
Could it be the batt/alternator not kicking out enough power? With the car shutting down the non essential systems?

Thanks
Alan.

Get it onto VCDS and run an optical loop test.

Thanks Darren, I don’t have VCDS, something an Audi specialist will have I presume?

Sorted!

turns out it was the phone module under the drivers footwell, its wet down there for some reason so need to get to the bottom of why.

got a new module on its way, in the meantime I've bypassed it with a loop cable so i can use the rest of the system.
