Hi all - LONG POST ALERT !

Engine 3.0TDI
Mileage 82.000 miles
Engine code - CAS
Diagnostics - ODBEleven pro

Got a nightmare of ***** with a Q7 weve had for 6 months now, during our ownership so far we've had the following: -

1.MMI panel in instrument cluster was fading in and out when cold - We had the instrument cluster out and reconditioned.
2.Driver side (right) heater flap motor - Bottom of the dash had come out to replace this one
3.ABS/ESP fault illuminated, code was similar to irregular pressure - This was down to a cracked vaccum host from the diaphram to the servo

These faults were coverd by the supplying garages expense.

A few days later the vehicle started going into (new faults)

4. limp mode when cruising at 60-70mph (low boost) and
5. ABS/ESP warning message illuminating again, the ESP,ABS and air suspension warning lights remain illiminated.

What occurs more often than none is when the ESP/ABS warning message illiminates, the air suspension defaults to COMFORT setting and is unable to be changed, and the gears hold themselves longer in D, so a point where you need to place the auto box into manual and change gear yourself as it is high reving everywhere (This is due to abs codes also being logged in the transmission control unit)

As myself and the garage have had a falling out as he no longer will cove any more costs, now it falls down to me to attempt to get these rectified, I did not purchase the vehicle trade and i'm handy with a spanner but this is starting to throw me a little.

The following fault codes stand out via ODBEleven pro

I have changed both ABS sensors with genuine Audi ones (brand new from the stealership), cleaned and checked the housing + checked the ABS ring for foreign materials. I have checked the wireing to the ABS sensors and performed an array of continuuity tests for the cabling. After changing the sensors with genuine ones, the problem now only occurs approximately once/twice every 2 weeks, rather than every day. I have swap tested with other sensors to no avail whilst at a VW/AUDI breakers.
I have also shown my findings to the VAG specialist who works at the breakersr near me and we are both in agreement that it "could" be the ABS ECU causing these intermitent issues based on my findings and there investigations aswell.

I have realised that the ABS ECU is part of the ABS pump, I have seen an array of companies out there that will repair this unit, I was wondering whether anyone else has experienced the issues/faults I have presented regarding the ABS warning lights and error codes.

Regarding the vehicle going into limp mode, the fault codes appear as follows : -

As mentioned above, when the car is being driven hard, this fault does not present itself, when the vehicle is driven in a sedate manner with the cruise control on, low revs on a dual carrageway/motorway 60-70mph the vehicle goes into limp mode, turning the car off and on again clears this fault until the next time it decides to occur (which is intermitent)

I have checked for any boost hose leaks, having someone else rev the car whilst i inspect within and underneath the engine bay, sprayed soapy water over all the relevant hoses to check for leaks whilst someone else revs the car (and at idle).

I have taken the car to Audi as a last resort to run a "test plan" on the turbo, as I was not able to re-create with ODBEleven unfortunately and they could confirm the underboost but wasnt able to tell me what was causing it, they would want to start swapping out the turbo (aswell as the ABS ECU as they had come to the same conclusion) before they would carry on any further.

Unless I take the turbo out to rule that out, perhaps the veins have become warn or something ?
Once again like the ABS fault, this is fault occurs very intermittently, audi drove the car for 30 miles aswell in different senarios and they advise they were not able to re-create the fault, yet I took it back a few hours later with the car in limp mode (hence why they were able to confirm a fault was present regarding underboost but could not tell me what the problem was because it had passed there test plan)

Any help would be much appriciated

hi mazza 7282 I have got similar problems 2008 q7 3l ,some times when starting it surges from 900 rpm to 1800rpm bad smell of smoke from exhaust if I keep trying to rev it it eventually evens out but it is down in power when trying to drive it . there has been times when driving it takes of perfect . one of the codes were interventsion from transmission to protect turbo, when I hold hoses from turbo pipes not much pressure in them .any ideas thanks
