Missing subwoofer adjustment control

Thank you. I it something VCDS can sort out as I do have that?
ultimately no... but there is one thing you can check in the long coding of your 5F:

-Byte 04 = FF
-Byte 05 = 0A

I will check that later.
I did make a couple of basic adjustments with VCDS, but nothing that I would think would effect the sub control (reverse PDC visual display, activation of the voice function in convertible, needle sweep, oil temp)

Well that's interesting as my experience is that the subwoofer control is not available for PFL cabriolet cars. I have retrofitted a couple and while the sub works the control menu would not "pop".

OK, so I have searched around my car, under the seats, boot well and can't find a subwoofer but my MMI did have a control for it once, the only other thing that I have done is update the navigation map via sd card download from MyAudi.

Send me your vin number or reg please and I will do some investigation when in line in a couple of hours.

I finally retrofitted B&O to my PFL with MMI2 and A.S.S. that was missing the sub control today, and as expected, I got sub control back after B&O is installed and coded. But to my surprise, the sub is no way near as punchy as PFLs even when the sub turned to full.. Audi might have toned it down to prevent compliant for rear shelf rattle, and the reason why FL A.S.S.' sub control is gone...

My PFL slightly tweaked A.S.S. before my MMI2 though has much lower output sounds better and punchier than the FL B&O... Has anyone compared PFL & FL B&O side by side can confirm?

If you've mentioned it previously then I apologise for not having noticed, but is this to rectify the missing sub control on an ***-equipped car or a B&O one?

I hope it's the former rather than the latter, because if it is, there might be a light at the end of the tunnel that isn't a train coming the other way.

.

Hey there! It's been over a year. Have you had a solution for subwoofer control in A_S_S Facelift yet :) ? I put some dynamat to my saloon's rear deck, however I missed my PFL vehicle's sound system :(.

Cheers.

im sure they wont bother fixing it now, the new model is round the corner.... I would like it back too. Maybe some clever Russians will hack the firmware and get it working lol.

I have a 2017 A3 with B&O. Today went to dealer, here in Ireland and they said that my chassis number is not included to this TSB. I wrote an email to Audi Ireland. Will see what they will reply. As I understand, it is a basic MMI update, right? Is there any other excuse to provide to a dealer, so they can update my MMI?
Right now, B&O sound quality is almost same as my previous Seat Leon with basic 8 speaker system. All this door rattle driving me nuts.

I got mine enabled just before the warranty ran out, after a lot of persuasion.. asked on two previous occasions without success. (B&O)

The changes they made to mine were as follows

Address 47: Sound System (J525)

Old:
Part No SW: 81A 035 466 HW: 81A 035 466
Component: MIB2_amp_P_A3 H10 0100
New:
Part No SW: 81A 035 466 B HW: 81A 035 466
Component: MIB2_amp_P_A3 H10 0440

Address 5F: Information Electr. (J794)

Old:
Part No SW: 8V1 035 035 HW: 8V1 035 035
Component: MU-P-LND-EU 052 0679
New:
Part No SW: 8V1 035 035 D HW: 8V1 035 035
Component: MU-P-LND-EU 052 1168

I couldn't believe the difference in sound, now sounds like my sound system had been in a box and now it's out !!
Three years without the sub woofer, I nearly asked them for a refund on the option.

Wait...So they literally changed some parts in your car, just to get the subwoofer control? So it’s not just a software update?

No, those just show the new software version for each component, the hardware versions remain the same.

I guess thats because you had software version 0679 before the update, which can be updated to 1168. My unit has software version 0191, that seems like can be updated only to 0192, which do not add subwoofer control :(

So I contacted Audi Ireland and they told me I can go to dealer and they will update my MMI. Now it's updated to version 0235 (0191 previously) and I finally have the subwoofer control.

So just to confirm, the dealership should be able to check for a software update if I go and ask about this? I’m in the states.

awwww mannnn. Why is that?
Google says London is approx 4484 from the USA. My official VW Group Service Tool cable is approx 1.5meters so won't reach :(

USA firmware will also be different the EU, often with different version numbers also.

ok. Is there any way to download an update and do it myself?

There are unofficial sources around the internet but using one outside of the official update procedure would void any warranty you have. I would also be very wary of downloading something like this from the internet as :

1) updates need to be completed while your vehicle is connected to a power maintainer.
2) if downloaded firmware contains any corrupted data there is a danger that you might brick your media unit.

Point 2 is important as your media unit does more than just play music, it controls many functions in your car as are not cheap to replace.

got it. Thanks for the help. I was hoping the subwoofer control was a simple as some VCDS coding.

Unfortunately not. VCDS is of almost no use even if you are retrofitting the Audi Sound System let alone trying to add a subwoofer control. I would speak to your local dealership / specialist and have them find the related TPI document and this will tell them the steps needed.

My 2017 S3 had the missing sub woofer control when I picked it up. A year later and they finally had the software update for it (MIB2 high with Nav). It was flashed under warranty. You should have no issues getting it done stateside as long as you are in warranty and mention there is a software update for it. Outside of warranty they will charge you labor to perform the update.
