Hi folks,

I have been a bit of a muppet and not kept a proper check on my oil, I know :S.

Today was driving down the motorway and orange light flashed up min oil level, pulled over and checked, right enough just below the min marker on the dipstick, woops, will it be ok?

How much oil does the difference between the min and max marker account for?

Checked again when I got home and as I pulled the disptick out, top part of the dipstick guide tube came with it, argh!!

Anybody have a part number for the tube? Not going to drive it until I grab some oil, 503.01 and a new tube., bus tomorrow, happy days!

Cheers Chris

Wont cost much for a new dipstick and easy to fit. We check our oil levels weekly.

I've run mine off the dipstick completely before with no issues, not that i'd recommend it ofcourse. The level warning is there as a safety feature, your engine will be fine.

Theres about 1L between the min and max markers.

Cheers guys, was getting really worried but if it's just a litre then its 3000 mile since it was changed, appears to be within the spec as per the handbook.

Just been to the VAG specialist garage there that does my servicing, gave me oil FOC :D

Took just a shade over a litre for the last 3 to 4000 mile :)
