MFSW button swap

I’m just wondering if many people have swapped the buttons on their MFSW. I have a 2016 S-Line but it has the basic buttons on the wheel. From what I’ve read on the internet it’s apparently just a straight swap but the articles I can find are limited.

The part number for the buttons are 8w0951523e which I believe is the right ones.

has anybody done this button swap?

I understood it to say, if you swapped like for like, ie swapped flat bottomed steering wheel for the round one with the same buttons, it was plug and play.

What do the extra buttons do?

Allow you to change audio track direct from the steering wheel and also added functionality in the DIS.
