so I have an Audi RS5 2013
Broke down with gearbox malfunction.
Got checks done and had to replace mechatronic unit, it couldn’t communicate with diagnostics machine, had totally failed.
So this cost me £3000.
Can I argue with Audi uk to get some compensation or is there no point at all?
Thanks

I'm not sure if you can but I'd be intrigued to know how you get on. My car is displaying malfunction. It clears itself by I know at some point it's going to fail. 3000 is a fair amount of money. I am going to investigate other specialists to fix the car. Always used a main dealer for everything but three grand I don't want to pay tbh.....

My advice is get it sorted ASAP!.... mines was playing up, and then it just failed one day, and had to replace mech unit!. But was told if I came in sooner it might have been repairable, and saved me a lot of cash. So get it done mate

I'm going to sort it. Had to hot shoe it home today (not overly difficult in an RS5) as the car is squealing. The squealing goes under acceleration. I'm guessing that this is linked to the mechatronic gremlins. I'm not mechanically inclined unfortunately to that extent. It's a bit of a pain though. The car has proven to be a bit of a money pit since owning it. At the end of the day though it is what it is and when its working it's great :). Just trying to think of the positives....

Never did finish the story on this one......in the end Audi replaced the gearbox. I contributed whisker over 2k....the invoice total was nearly 9.5k for the box in the end. Thankfully I didn't pay the full amount.

Hi. I had the same issue recently and after some research i found Audi done repair kit for the unit consisting of 2 printed circuit units and 3 solenoids that bolt onto the mechatronic unit. Kit costs 270 plus vat and did repair myself with an Audi technician in 4 hours. Car shifts and runs like new after it was done. Did you have shifting issues before it failed on you?
