Well a few things have changed recently and it is looking more likely I will be moving on the trusty old bus now.
It was never my plan to part company with it , but , as with most things in life one never really knows what is around the corner.
I need something larger really and the B7 as nice as it is just hasn't got the rear space.
I'm looking around at present to see what is available and ticks all my boxes , maybe a S6 avant…...anyway just a heads up really for any interested parties as the old bus will be going as it is, I wont be taking anything off, so a real bargain for someone.
I don't have a date yet so making the most of the old bus until something suitable comes up.
A bit sad really to let it go but i'm sure another owner will benefit from it.

    That's too bad Rob.
The S6 should be cheap to buy as its often overlooked (at least here), but expensive to own.

BTW, can you clear something: what was the "Audi A4 2.0 TFSI Quattro Special Edition" spec apart from the 220hp factory tune? I'm looking at my own spec which is a local edition (I think) called TS which has the same 220 hp tune, but a few other options, like S4 chassis, and drilled rotors standard. You have that too?

S6 avant prices are quite strong over here , well depending on what platform ones is looking at and spec aswell and to be honest car ownership is not cheap in the UK full stop whatever model .
I cant really be spot on for your variant in Sweden as regional differences will occur across European models.
On the whole though the spec for the model in question is pretty well the same.
The chassis's are the same , rotors are 320mm vented drilled items, all BUL engines are the same but the later engines did have revisions over the early units.
All came with black headlining , black exhaust 80mm tips , depending on weather it was a MK1 or 2 the wheels were either 18" Ronal's (as per DTM) or le mans type.
mk1's had silver brightwork and trim etc, mk2 had black optics pack so more black everywhere externally including grille surround.
trim levels were all different but a few had full valcona leather, which was the top spec …..others had other finishes.
avants had black roof rails on the Mk2 where as silver on MK1
same with external kit, so many variations on fitted options and no two really seem to be the same, just depends on what options were fitted at the factory or specified when ordered.
All the 220 special eds were made at the RS factory along side the DTM/S4 and RS4 , and not all 220's are made the same or even have the same parts....

anyway, that maybe of some help to you but as with all things audi , nothing is ever straight forward..lol

Did the failed glovebox latch make you fall out if love with the car?

Is it too personal to ask what the space is needed for? It’s usually dogs, kids, work equipment or hobby equipment like fishing/camping/golf.

What ever it is a dedicated vehicle is usually a good investment....

Nope it is a great car, just with the front seats back there is a serious lack of legroom for taller occupants in the back, it wasn't an issue 4 years ago when i bought the car but its is becoming more of an issue now hence why i'm thinking a6/s6 platform.
I'll see how thing go, if I cant find a suitable replacement then I'll keep it and find a different solution .

Do you have any source for that statement? I just want to track down my own cars origin, if possible.

My car is similar in that it had a 220 hp factory tune, and drilled rotors. But in Sweden we also go S4 chassis a part of the "TS" package, as well as sports seats. On the downside, black optics was extra and the previous owner of my car didn't opt for it.

Do you know what size standard A4 front rotors are? Does it mean the caliper is also larger or if they have a different mounting bracket?
Will need to replace mine eventually.

I sat behind my 6’7” friend driving the B7 And can’t say it was cramped but it’s definitely not spacious either.

You did inspire me to look at the A8L and there are some nice engines and options...... they don’t look DIY friendly under the bonnet though.

Its all in the VIN number aswell , VIN numbers for special editions made in the RS factory start with WUA.

here you go aswell ,official info on the origins of the 220 special eds.

quattro GmbH has historically only been able to produce one specific model at a time at its sole plant at Neckarsulm. Chronologically, the first quattro GmbH model produced was the Audi RS2 Avant, a joint venture between Porsche and quattro GmbH, from 1994-1996 (and actually built at Porsche's Zuffenhausen plant). After this initial joint venture, all subsequent cars have been solely (with the exception of the Audi TT RS) produced at Neckarsulm by quattro GmbH. The second car was the C4 S6 Plus, produced from April 1996 to July 1997. Third was the 2000-2001 B5 RS4 Avant quattro; fourth was the 2003 C5 RS6 quattro; fifth was the 2005 B7 A4 DTM Edition saloon. Sixth out of quattro GmbH was the 2006 B7 RS4 quattro, seventh out of quattro GmbH was the 2006 B7 S4 25 Quattro, the eighth was the A4 S Line Special Edition (with 220PS upgrade, black optics pack, ventilated cross-drilled front disc brakes, black exhaust pipes, two tone leather interior) and, as of 2009, the ninth and latest offering is the 2008 C6 RS6 5.0 TFSI quattro.

The Audi R8 is built in a new and totally separate quattro GmbH plant at Neckarsulm.

The latest Audi TT RS and the Audi RS3 are both notable departures from this Neckarsulm-only production tradition. Whilst the TT RS and RS3 were wholly designed, developed and engineered at Neckarsulm by quattro GmbH, they are manufactured alongside their 'lesser' Audi siblings, with the TT RS being manufactured at Győr, Hungary, by AUDI AG subsidiary Audi Hungaria Motor Kft.

quattro GmbH-produced cars from Neckarsulm can be identified by their specific 2nd and 3rd digit of the World Manufacturer Identifier section of the vehicles' Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) - quattro GmbH manufactured cars begin with 'WUA....', whereas cars produced by AUDI AG in Germany begin with 'WAU....

hope that help a bit , that's why special edition 220's are special....

Mmm, I have s ”WUA” VIN number as well.

This ‘official’ info is from Wikipedia? Maybe it was edited by UK owners and they didn’t think that these cars would be in other countries as well, and under other names.

Ok, I found it on Wikipedia. I am going to request to edit that to either make special edition less UK centric, or add the Swedish ‘TS’ to the list of vehicles produced at the plant. Assuming you guys are inputting on that Wiki page, I’d appreciate if it was approved.

    Here’s my full VIN:

Not that I know, 'no' (I'm on Audizine as well). The Wikipedia article was written in 'UK English' so probably by the UK owners group; Like with the US baseball "world series" they probably forgot the rest of us ;) Anyways there are bound to me more variants under local naming. My registration says 'SPORT QUATTRO' and the price list used the "TS" ("TS Quattro") designation. I edited the Wikipedia leaving your UK specific entries but adding Swedish TS details (and opening up for other country revisions).

No, I have some rare gray interior and headlining (see image inline) with leather/suede sports seats, aluminum trim.

looks like I said before , regional differences will and do occur across the intended destination country.
Looking at that info list , it's more like they have just shortened the description down to TS , they still show the 200 as a T , neither of the listing show the S-line option either but they probably have it anyway.
Seems that Swedish models don't have a lockable glove box either, one more problem you don't have to deal with then..lol

That's the list (incl. S-Line exterior).
    upload_2018-8-12_12-37-32.png

It was on the options list (QE1), but I don't have it selected.

and you don't get the 18" ronal or lemans fitted as standard either then, seems like the Swedish variant is a lot different then to UK version.

On all my paperwork my car is listed as an , Audi A4 Avant 2.0T FSI Quattro S-line Special Edition ( Manual) , also states that on the original delivery documents from germany.

Looks like the old has had a reprieve from being sold now, gave her a good old wash and polish then went out for a nice 100 mile country side drive......and it was a joy.

Outstanding performance when needed but comfort and finesse when taking it a bit more laid back style , can't fault her really and i will overlook the lesser rear legroom or just tell passengers to find another mode of transport...lol.

    Happy days...
