ahah you are super welcomeAaand... Nope. I did think it may make the note of the exhaust clearer this morning, but sounded just as before on the way home. A whole 47 seconds - literally - wasted.
hopefully you are happy with the improvements none the less. My matts still cover the whole boot and quite happy, but realy want my exhaust inserts removed.. which will bring back some of the drone, but rather not have the backpressure of them .. potentially in my head but swear to god the gear shifts was like butter after the exhaust went on, fet beaut.. then after the inserts a few weeks later in 2 of the 4 cat back pipes (to reduce air flow and drone) it feels jerky between low gears.
Exhaust place must love me going back for tweaks

pricey month for the S5, insurance and service.
Service
I bit the bullet and paid a garage for the service so that it maintains full service history in the electronic log book.
For peace of mind had the gear box oil change service early even though it is only at 22k miles, but it is about to be 3 years old so decided i will do a 3 year schedule rather than 38k schedule.. Not cheap but glad it was done. £488 in total for both services .. eeep!
MDM technik who is a 'Bently, Audi and VW performance specialist' as recommended by Dippy, real nice chap and didn't have any issues.
Insurance, Adrian FLux really let me down on price this year, same for all the other modified car insurers like sky, brent acre etc where quotes ranged from £750 £1024 mods declared.
Surprisingly discovered people like Admiral, Diamond Elephant now LOVE modified cars... all under £590 all mods declared.. so anyone struggling this year deffo recommend trying Admiral through money supermarket (extra discount), then phone direct for a further discount on the already discounted price.
£564 with legal cover, suspension changes, exhaust changes, visual changes x3.
I am now off to eat the tins of food and old rice in my cupboards for a month

That's strange. I have never found the mainstream insurers competitive for modified insurance. I always used one of the specialist brokers. I was close to using Adrian Flux myself this year but Sky beat their quote.

Exactly my thoughts, i have been adrian flux for my last 3 cars and never moved away for what must be 8 years with them, I think it was the insurance class on the S5 which is shockingly 42 out of 50, as i was only paying £380 on the bagged stage 2 a4 for years. I was freaking out after phoning every modified insurer and not getting them under 850, the compare thing was just desperation and glad I did it
Adrian flux offered 750 as i was leaving but i was already gone and bit off Admirals hand lol

Found some left over light smoke tint film in the house so tinted one side.. yes one side
ordered some more as although i have enough to cover the other side, you have to really heat and stretch this stuff else it doesnt go bubble free on the lumpy side of the light, so a nice big sheet would be better.
Nice and subtle and just enough to take the red glare off I think

Aw thank you. I am on the same boat, not keen on too dark or Matt. I like the cherry colour of the Golf tail lights and think this is a good substitute. Once the otherside is done, no one will know which means it could pass for OEMManda, I must admit it is the first time I have actually liked a smoked light. It looks very decent

It is always nice to see a tastefully modified car, which yours is definitely one. These little personal touches make a huge difference. Not too much in your face and noticeable only to us Audiots...

aaand finished. After a good practice on the left side, my right side took a third of the time, and looks flawless! so have ordered a little more to redo the left
VTCust0ms with a zero instead of an o, they are on ebay, same supplier i used for this car and the old one if you want to get some
30cm x 100cm per side does it with loads of overhang to help the stretching/fitting process

It is the same company you used and their product, maybe is the outdoor lighting as it is not the best here today.
Jeez... someone who cleans their AWE tips... I remember mine looking like that... about 15 months ago...

Actually haven't clean the tips it's got a coat of dirt on it as it is still quite new.

Speaking of cleanings, I never got around to cquartzing the body panels as i never machine polised it (lord knows how bad that dealer prep is, pretty sure they used a brick).
But i have decontaminated and used cquartz UK edition on the diamond cut surface of the wheels before the first road salting comes.. fingers crossed it really does protect them for 3 years from corrosion/white worming.
Also noticed dealership touch ups.. one wheels is half diamond cut and half silver paint ahaha in fairness really well blended.

My exhaust tips are supposed to be black. I know that Audi supplied them as silver, but that was just a manufacturing error. Fortunately after a short period of ownership they returned to the correct colour.
That's one thing I don't miss is cleaning chrome exhaust tips, mines are the black AWE ones.

That's a handy vid @Meemo, my tips have started to show some pitting, may paint them myself or get them powder coated after the winter.
Luckily my tips come off, no need to take back boxes off.

Most likely same deal as on my B8, removeable to the side with a sticky backing you wash to remain adhesive.
Otherwise I may just mount my shortened plate making my own mount again like on my old B8, had some padded clips that clicked on before.
I just want my shorted border plates back on
I had no intention of getting this grille after seeing the price to ship in, but this was a good deal and from someone I knew parting theirs so unpromptue buy tbh

I had 3 solutions over the lifetime of the old a4. Yes they look very diy behind the plate but functioned brilliantly
Seeing as it is basically haloween and I seem to had stopped taking pictures of the car after i used the sticky back 'killaplates' option, this is the picture i could find that you can just see the plate peeking out, I used a company called killa plates but the plate didnt last long, however i opted for them to only provide the backing as i wanted to use a company that bsa marks the sticker plate, then put them together. I suspect had i got theirs with the plate printed it wouldnt have stretched the digits on the plate after a few uses.
Used the base plate from the plate holder, cut off the bottom clips and replaced them with a packing foam wrapped around a slither of plastic i left carved in (then sealed with pva/tape), these squished nicely in the honeycombs without causing any damage, trimmed the centre clips so they are only guides not permenant, and the top clips on the back just cliped over, so it very literally clicked on, then slide up and it clicked off. Not sure how i would do it for the slats but am able to have clips 3d printed which is ideal but I currently like the side plate idea more

Alas it is on. What a boob ache, taking the bumper off wasnt the time consuming bit as that was off in 15 minutes 1 man job... but detatching the grille took forever! yanked at it for ages, used prying tools, then had friends pop over to briefly to say hi and got them start yanking at it with me (poor timing for them, great timing for me ) ... untill one realised there are 2 bolts inside behind the rings.... un did these and it pinged off.. so embarrassing.
so fyi... when you change your grille... there are 2 very well hidden bolts in the rings lmao
Just waiting for some gloss black wrap to lay between the slats, and a sticker number plate i will trim to the legal border limit and stick to the right
