Hi all.
Mot picked up this fault. The main (high) beam has a fault on passenger side. The bulbs illuminate (they use the same light source as dipped beam) but the "flap" ? fails to lift to reveal the full main beam. I hardly use it but unfortunately this is an mot failure.
Anyone had this problem before, know what has failed or possible solution without replacing whole unit, gratefully appreciated.
Cheers.

Have you scanned the car with vcds or the like as yet?

Checked the wiring as its a seperate feed for the flap.

Got a problem with my drivers, sometime works fine. Other times its dipped but when i flick the steering it will come on???? Im now wondering if its a similar issue as yours

Yes bud, local audi specialists ran vcds check via bluetooth with no faults. You mention a seperate electrical feed though (does this mean seperate plug) & I'm trying to sus wether it is a supply fault, or a motor failure (or other internal headlamp fault). These units are supposed to be pretty bulletproof (Re Audi mechanic) But i would think vcds would pick up a wiring/supply fault. Presently i'm trying to remove headlight assembly to connect using drivers side wiring (plug is just turned over) & believe partial bumper removal is req'd? This should tell me at least, if flap/motor/assembly is faulty or not. V expensive if so. Hoping to hear from xenonparts.com & any further info gratefully received. Other option is to leave car at garage along with my credit card & pin (sob).
Audi A4 2.0T se 2oo5 low miles & vgc otherwise. Thanks again.

its a full bumper off job
