Ok so still having running problems and didn't even think to check maf
so the maf looks like brand new but when I unplug it when the car is running there is no change most other cars the revs will drop or show signs that it's been unplugged! I'm thinking it maybe the wiring to the maf is there anyway of checking if you have power to the maf?
Cheers

If there was a wiring issue like that then it would throw a fault code... most running issues are down to air leaks...

What model/year is your car? I am assuming its going to be a 2001 later A3 (AUM engine code) based on what you have said about pulling the MAF as wideband engines run ok with it unplugged unlike AGU's

If you have access to a registered version of VCDS check block 032 to see what fuel trims are doing..

Car starts and runs great at idle but as soon as you pull away and put your foot down it just won't rev up and can here poping noises from the engine somewhere. It's gotta be something simple just can't find it!

When it idles, does the idle remain steady or does it fluctuate?

If the revs are dropping upon pulling away, have you checked all the pipework for a boost leak
