Hi folks
Just had this while stopped at temp traffic lights so had to move when they changed to green, but then is soon as I got above like 500 revs it went off, and never came on again on the short drive I had to do but when idling for a few mins it did it again, tap the pedal and it stops???
Drives fine as it always has
Any ideas peeps???
Thanks for looking

500rpm ? what engine is it that idles that low? . I take it you have checked the oil level and the oil and filter have been changed at reasonable intervals. How many miles has it done?

Sorry I meant 1k revs
Car is a b8.5 S4 with 37k, new oil and filter 2k miles ago but just had another look and on mmi it says please reduce oil, I check that regular and its never said that before so not sure where its from worryingly

Whats your coolant level at? If the coolant is low then we know what is filling up your oil level.

And that's not good. Fingers crossed for you.

Oh jeez I will Check in morning, if it is that I'm already too late

Coolant level does occasionally sit lower this time of the year when cold as I’ve just found out on mine but when warmed up it sits just above half way between min and max. I was panicking also but the local VAG specialist who I use said it’s totally normal when it’s colder conditions for the coolant level to drop when the engine is cold.

well i drove 4 miles to work yesterday and about 6 miles in the evening...and it never did it
drove this morning about 8 mile in total and nothing

so i have been looking and when properly cold the coolant is on the min line and when its warm its just above halfway, no color change and the oil looks the same as normal.
i have no idea:blue:
