I'm taking a test drive today in an s3, isn't quite the spec I want but wanting to know how different a drive it is to my 2.0T.

Is there any extras you wouldn't be able to live without that I should be looking for? Currently looking to get:

- FBMFSW
- DVD sat nav (or a unit that can be instantly swapped for my RNS-E)
- Buckets
- Rear sensors

Looking for either ibis white/spirit blue/phantom black or maybe solar orange. Finding it pretty hard to find cars with buckets in, the audi used car search is pretty limited! Can't wait to find one! :blackrs4:

All S3s came with a double din unit (symphony II I think) so you'll easily be able to move your RNS-E across. I take it you still have the original unit for your car?

FBMFSW is a must for me now.

I would imagine cars with buckets come on the scene less often as they're generally bought by people who want to keep their car for a while. Keep looking though because they're great :icon_thumright:

BT phone prep is a definate too. Especially with the FBMFSW and RNS-E.

I haven't had cruise control on a car before now but I use it all the time.

I have more extras but I could live without them I guess.

Try auto trader as you can put bucket as a keyword.

Pistonheads classifieds are good too and generally have at least 15 8P S3s.

Buckets will be like rocking horse poop, but perservere if that's what you really want is they are double expensive to retro fit.

RSNE is no biggy and you can have it bought and fitted (with help on here) for around £500.

The FBSW looks nice, but I don't get on with it, so try it out first.

I wouldn't be too hung up on sensors either, the cars are easy to judge* and they are cheap enough to retro fit - if that car has everything else you want. Similarly cruise is less than £200 to retro fit.

If I had my time again I think Ibis would be my choice, but Sprint is the quickest colour. :rockwoot:

* just noticed you have an A3 so you know that all ready, lol.

And he also has an RNS-E already mate! lol Need a brew?

Verpisdich. I know, I know, a complete hash up:slapped:. RIGHT - scrub all that I said, and just get yourself on Pistonheads. I'm back off to bed. :bye:

Yep, PH Classifieds, sold last car and bought this car from there.
It has a big demograph these days.
And its FREE!

-BOSE
-BT
-FBMFSW
-Armrest
-Sprint or IBIS

All must haves IMO
RNS is too but can be retrofitted so not an issue.
Buckets look the bolocks but no good to me as I use the back seats.

My car came used, already fitted with s/roof, cruise, light pack, foldy mirrors and other bits but they are just nice to haves.

If you can get a lightly used one already re-mapped then that will save you spending a further £500 when you get it.;)

happy shopping
Paul

PS-Dont tell me how much you end up paying as Im in denial over how much my car has depreciated.:sob:

folding mirrors, cruise, armrest, back parking sensors, concert cd-mp3 - so you can retrofit an RNS-e are must in my opinion, i've also got hill hold, sun roof, and heated seats-but think that someone else could live without them.:beerchug:

thanks for the tips guys, just been out for a test drive in a sprint blue, really enjoyed it, think i'm going to hold out until I can find one with buckets.

Good news about the RNS-E, so it's just plug and play with all of the standard s3 units?

Pretty sure i want white or blue now, but it's tempting to get a black one after seeing rabbits pictures!

Mate no matter which colour you pick you'll always see another one in another colour and think maybe you should have got it in that. It took me weeks to finally pick which colour to go for and then I was still unsure.

It's not plug and play with them. It uses quadlock like the standard S3 HU comes with, but some pins may need to be changed around, especially if you have Bose.

There are some good threads on here with the info, or wait until you get the car and ask in the ICE forum for help if you need it.

What year/plate are you looking at? I am forever spending my Euromillions on PH/Top Marques so I can keep an eye out for you.

I'm looking for an 07/57/08 not to worried about mileage. Hadn't heard of Top Marques will take a peek now, thanks!

Have you considered asking an Audi dealer to source one for you? i know BMW do this and can find a car in the spec you want from another dealership and the other dealership must sell the car to that dealership??

Anyone else heard Audi doing this?

yeah some audi garages refuse to do it though because there in compitition hence me having to drive all the way to derby to get my sportback ... it was a joke i see a car on the audi used car website , manchester refuse to get it because there in competition with derby so i have to drive to derby .... perthetic i know , like children and these guys sell cars

I've spoken to a few garages about sourcing one, very doubtful the actual audi dealer would do it, never found them to be that helpful!
