looking for a sub £1000 quattro for the missus

want something ideally that does not involve me spending a week on my **** in the snow under it to get it working again.

anyone seen one recently?

I got our W plate 2.5 TDis for £1500 and £1600 from the auctions (in Aberdeen, so maybe out of your area). I would expect you can get older, petrol ones for less than a grand - but you do get what you pay for. Mine had a turbo over-boosting and an airbag fault, both of which would be expensive at a garage (grand or so?), but a can of Mr Muscle and second hand airbag module fixed that. Hers had DIS lines and suspension arms (another grand or so?) so my 'cheap' cars were only cheap because I could fix them!

cheers, am looking at A4 and A6 avants ideally diesel but petrol is OK
am looking at a 2.8 A6 in good nick, dont mind travelling and am expecting a few jobs to sort it out.
so long as it is not pulling boxes, subframes or engines I am willing!
