Limited mileage

Just found out my adrian flux policy i have just set up today is a limited mileage policy. What happens if I go over this? Do I get charged and extortionate amount?

Have to fill in my cars current mileage when I actually get into my car to take the reading so they will know what I start the year at

I can't see the charge being extortionate, unless you go way over. i.e. if you're limited to 8000 and do 8500 it wouldn't be much if any extra, but if you did 16,000 on the same policy I can imagine it would be quite hefty. Hopefully one of the insurance bods will be along soon to confirm.
