Morning all, feeling a bit down and sad today!

I found out last night, on Facebook of all things, that an old uni friend had passed away over the weekend!! :(

I say old friend, he was an older brother of a girl I was trying to pull back in the day. Sounds like he lost the fight from a terminal illness. I only knew him for 6 months, but I remember him like I saw him yesterday. He was a happy chap who had a few knocks in his life, but it never got him down, and he just got on with it!

I'm sad I never found out earlier and never got the opportunity to see him again. :(

RIP buddy.

Life's so precious, take care everyone!

Sorry to hear that Joe. You are so right though. Life is precious. Live each day as if its your last. Take care Joe. :)

Yeap its a real shame Joey, life sucks sometimes, sometimes you wish the life selectiveness was more directed towards the undeserved, I know its not a nice thing to say, but there are some real evil nasty bar stewards in this world that brings nothing but pain/suffering to many, that you wish it was them huh.

Sorry to hear this, I know of a number of school/class mates that have passed away, although we havnt seen them in many years, it still makes us sad hey fella.

I know how you feel.Unfortunately in 2007/2008 we had a couple of bad years-lost an aunt and uncle to cancer, then my dad was diagnosed with cancer and given 6-9 months,we lost him after no more than 5 weeks. Then my missus and myself lost both our surviving grandmothers within a short space of each other. The icing on the cake was our daughter being stillborn the week before Christmas 2008 at 27 weeks, then burying her on Christmas eve.Our son who was 3 at the time was distraught as he was so looking forward to being a big brother.Fortunately in 2010 we had a beautiful daughter, who now causes nowt but chaos and mayhem...
This led to me being diagnosed with a mild depression, and anti-depressants which, fortunately I am now free from.
Felt like my black tie was never out of the drawer.
Be positive and don't be afraid to talk.

Markos, good to hear the positives, always smile, never look at the floor, life throws us these things as a test of how strong we are, the fact you got through your times is a testament to the person you are, your family are very lucky :)

Like the other said, you show great strength to concentrate on the good things rather than the bad in your life. Your son and daughter are blessed. Yes, life very often does suck, but just as often, it doesn't.

Posts like yours Marcos help to show people that when they're down, no matter how bad it is, there's always someone out there who's getting it worse. I buried my little girl at Christmas 2007, and it didn't feel like life could get any lower. But the only way from there is up, and my daughter now wants for nothing and is as spoilt as we can afford, but whether that's a good thing we'll see! People tell you your brave, but it's not something you done voluntarily you just have to play the hand that you're dealt. So jo jo, and anyone else that's having a sh#t time, feel sorry for a few days, let it out. Then pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get on with life. Without doubt there'll be more pain and heartache on the way but life has its rewards.

Cheers buddy, I'm not down in the dumps, far from it, just feel sorry for the family in question. Death is a sad experience, made worse for those that lose someone close, and understandably so...

I'm still friends with this girl, but we're not buddies or anything, so it's no surprise I wasn't told anything. It's more of a shock to the system more than anything else.

Paul, i just wanted to let you know, that reading this post shows me what a true inspiration you are to others. I cant imagine what it must have been like to lose a beautiful child. Its something I hope to never have to go through, it would be unbearable. Sad things happen to us all during this life, but your positive attitude and ability to share this with others has been a true inspiration to us all. Thanks Paul. :) x

Thanks Sandra, but when you look around the forum and see the nice comments and support from people that have probably never met each other, it's easy to post about personal matters. There's no trolls on here. I had an amazing little girl for 4 months and as much as I'd love her here now, i'm blessed to have had her at all. It showed me and my girlfriend that no matter what gets thrown at us we'll still come out the other side, and it means that my little girl now is our absolute world. Thanks for the kind words.

Defo worth the wait :)
Paul

You defo are an inspiration, we recently had someone in the family lose a little one, and it was horrible as they are very close to us. Being parents, it just brought it home even more and was so hard to deal with, but as you say, you have to move on from it and just hope that they are in a better place now.

I couldnt imagine what you guys went through or anyone else in this situation, even more so when its a child, but as already mentioned, everything happens for a reason and sometimes you do question, well why?

But, its positive thinking and a strong mind that can get you through it :)

This thread made me cry! (nearly) ahem, there are truly inspirational people on this site, which have helped me pull through some horrible experiences, and reading these words, somehow make you see the world in a different light, if only for a few minutes.

I thank all who have had input to this thread.
