The other day I had a seat leon cupra 300 DSG estate pull along side me. I'm running APR stage 1, Wagner intercooler R600 intake and hoses and I was just faster and I mean just. Crazy how a car with potentially 70 -80 bhp less can be so fast. DSG was definitely the contributor to his acceleration, I hope that's all it was.

Don’t forget there slightly lighter as well. @Leevr have you done the clutch delay valve mod ? And the spring removal mod ? A shorter throw on your shifter will help as well.

@jassyo06 - Very much agree buddy
I have smoked the odd S3 away from the lights, but if the roads had been wet I'd be still there spinning the front wheels on the Cupra lol
I wonder how they both compare say 30-70mph ...
Like you & others on ASN I DO NOT advocate racing on the public roads

Golf r manual vs s3 dsg.
Dsg wins by a couple of car lengths. Also the golf got away quicker.
Shows that computer control is faster than humans.
Also the dsg will have shorter ratios.
A cupra dsg in the dry I reckon would eat a s3 manual all day long. A stage 1 would essentially close the gap between manual and dsg.

There’s a washer in the clutch delay valve on the manual MQB cars that massively restricts the clutch reaction, thus slower shifting. I have taken mine out and replaced the shifter to a shorter one and even taken the clutch pedal spring. They have significantly changed the reaction in sprinted driving and would highly recommend doing them. I’d like to see the same race with these mods done, I’m not saying that the manual would beet it but the gap would not be as much.

Irrespective I would still prefer the manual.
More to life than a straight line race (just spend more money and buy a faster car).

I’ve had many a race “on private” roads against some high powered autos and nothing in it and at times gained etc.

I'll make my earlier point again. It doesn't need to be dry when the Cupra is an estate...

Why? You’re implying the Cupra ST is, by definition, 4WD. It isn’t necessarily - sold in 2WD guise as well.

The description was Cupra 300 DSG estate. There were FWD Cupra STs, yes, but the 300 DSG version was not one of them. There are a few FWD 300s dotted about but they have 3 pedals and a stirring stick as far as I'm aware...

@S32B - PCH runs out March 2020 on the Cupra
Won't be getting another car when the Cupra go's TBH
Will still have the wife's Captur & the Avant
The thinking is (at the mo) when the wife's Captur PCH runs outs (November 2020) we will go down to one car
I'll be buying this time & the fave at the mo, which as you know can change at any time, is a VW Tiguan 4Motion R-Line DSG 190bhp 2 litre diesel. Tow car priorities don't 'cha know lol
