Hi people I just want to replace my reverse lights on my audi a3 with an LED lights. My OEM light is just too dark so I just need a brighter one. I found 2 on ebay but I wonder if anyone up here used it before. 9 LED REVERSE LIGHT BULBS AUDI A2 A3 A4 A5 A6 A8 S3 S4 | eBay 24 LED WHITE REVERSE LIGHT BULBS Audi A4 A6 A8 + TDi | eBay The reason why I am asking because I am unsure if these lights need resistor to make it work. Any help will be much appreciated.
Would of thought they will throw up an error so resistor would be required, plus because the LEDs face straight out they won't utilise the reflector in the light cluster and so will be no brighter, in fact probably worse.
As audicruiser says, they won't work properly in the reflector and would need a resistor, but in any case reversing lights aren't on the car for the driver to see at the back - they are there to warn other motorists and pedestrians that the vehicle is reversing ! If you want to see backwards then get a camera installed.
Talk to T8ups on here about LED lights. He's supplied many kits to people with out any errors. I bought a set of LED reversing lights for my B5 off him some time ago and really like them. I was out testing a LED light I made over the weekend and thought I'd test the reversing lights as well. Here's some pics.
Another Reversing light question. My S3 only has 1 reversing light on the left, its a SP3 facelift. Should i have 2?
If it's a three door then no, if it's a Sportback then you should have two. On the three door, the near side has the reversing light and the off side has the fog light.
the 8P3's will bring up errors when installing LED's outside at the rear, i have already tried doing the reverse lights in the SB and they are 501. the 8P1 and 8P2 will be fine, i am getting a delivery of bright LED's in and they will fit the DRL's and the Reverse lights. Thanks Trups
I don't have any LEDs in the rear clusters. I have a 3dr. Unless you mean the high vis brake? Only ones I have are in the number plate.
Feels little bit stupid but does anybody know how to take out the reverse light bulb on Audi A3 1.6 TDI 2010 S-Line 8P? Anybody got link, please put them here. Thanks.
Iv installed this in my 3 door 8P3. Works great and doesn't produce any errors. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251301513930
does anyone know if you can get led reverse bulbs for s3 8v?? I've bought two sets off eBay both claiming they're the car and they don't. i know its bayonet fitting but the bulbs were too big. any ideas?? also want to try and get daytime running lights where the fog lights would go if anyone has any ideas?
Let me bump this tread. I'm in exactly same situation as the OP. My reverse light halogen bulbs are too dark. The original halogens are w16w type, 15mm x 35mm. I'm looking at these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162120399635 Is 800lm much brighter then the OE halogen bulbs? Anyone has experience with the LED reverse light like this?
I bought this the other day: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162059964279?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2648&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT it's a lot brighter then the standard one. Only issue I've had is with my headunit and reverse camera it didn't work 100%. There was a hum from the headunit and the camera image started moving up and down the screen so for now I've put the previous standard bulb back in. I'd recommend giving those ones a try if you don't have a reverse camera.
Forget 50W , get 80W . http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/2X80W-High-Power-Cree-16LED-1156-Ba15s-P21W-Backup-Reverse-Light-Bulb-Lamp-White-/282047441755
I'm afraid the 50W and 80W bulbs you linked to won't fit my car. I bought the LEDs from my link. I don't have a camera yet, but it's arriving this week together with an Android head unit. I don't plan to retrofitting it until spring though.
Fitted the LED reverse lights from my link above. I fitted the left one first and took a picture for side-by-side comparison of LED vs OEM.
Was this the bulb you fitted mate, it is a wedge connector not a bayonet type then? Does anyone know if these are good for a 2011 3 Door 8P, I spoke to Trups and he was saying there can be issues with errors on theM?
I bought similar pair (wedge as shown) having tried a number of different types and they work on my 2011. It's only been a week but no errors or flickering so far.
I bought from this seller http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162120399635 . No errors at all. To check compatibility, simply look at your original bulb.
Thanks mate, so in your car they have a wedge connector then? I'd have to assume all 2011 models have a wedge then surely (rhetorical question!)
Just fitted mine with cheap LEDs from eBay and they are a visible step up from the jaded yellow built in ones. Mine is an 8PA 2005 and takes the wedge shaped ones. Already contemplating upgrading everything to LED now that I've seen the results first hand!
I got these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201750355380 Please note that they look very bright, but I wouldn't depend on them to light up the back of the car for visibility. You'll probably be better off getting CREE types LEDs (as posted earlier in the thread) like these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-50W-PU...BUS-ERROR-FREE-DRL-REVERSE-LIGHT/251393153607 for that. Another member here @t8ups also sells reverse LEDs, which is another option. Good luck!
Are these really worth the bother? I find these generally appear excessively bright and fail after a few months - similar to the numberplate leds.
I just decided to take the risk. They do come with warranty and in theory LEDs are supposed to be long lasting. Only time will tell. Kept the old bulbs as backups anyway
