    Guys,

I will be fitting my LCR front splitter this week but dont really like the idea of using self tapping screws as it's a bit tacky.

I was thinking about using some thin nuts and bolts so I could drill tiny holes in the under side of the bumper to bolt the splitter to. This way it can be easily removed if I need to for when the snow falls etc.

Anyone else fitted an LCR splitter without self tapping screws?

yea, i thought self tappers were a hateful pikey idea! plus, you have the risk of a sharp self taper being near to your IC core or pipes iof you have a front mount, which I think is a terrible idea.

I used some 20mm M4 allen bolts with nylock nuts and penny washers. I went a bit OTT and used 5 per side as I didn't want the splitter deflecting down at high speeds (car is doing almost 150 on track regularly)

Took about 45 mins to fit start to finish, and the bolts cost me about a fiver

Self tappers and a heat gun here dude, but will be getting a new one soon as the missus used it as a shovel not long ago parking up at a gig so its scrapped to feck :banghead: pulled a couple of the screws through the splitter so it's hanging slightly in the centre. was thinking of using M5 Bolts and some washers next time

I used TEK screws when i did mine, basically a self drilling & tapping bolt with a spongey type washer on them, works a treat IMO.

does it need modifying, or is it a straight forward process...drill holes and screw up? or need cutting down etc?

Also where do you buy these from? Awsome GTI or is there somewhere cheaper?

    cheers.

Got mine from SEAT for £38.

It does require some trimming to fit perfectly.

It all depends on how you fix the splitter to the car. Some people like to have the splitter hanging out infront where as some others like it flush with the bumper. You only need to trim round the edges mainly so there's no overlapping.

I'm fitting mine while the front bumper is off to do my FMIC. This should make fitting the splitter a lot easier.

Seat Preston @ £28 - you'll need to trim the bit that fixes to the lcr down so it sits flush, line it up Then starting in the middle with a couple of fixings to keep in place then fix into position as you work round, use the heat gun/hair dryer (if ya got a bird) to soften to get into position then cut off at each edge once fixed for best results.... yr looking about half hour of a job.Go with the bolts option if you let the missus drive the car ;)
