Dropped the car off this morning (2015 2.0 TDI) for it's 1st MOT and brake fluid change, and was informed that recall work would need to be performed on the car. The lambda sensor would be replaced whilst it was in.

Anybody know any background on this issue?

You can check by putting your reg plate into:

https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-recall
There’s a difference between safety related recalls, which are officially resistered and would show up via that link, and service bulletins (if that’s the right term) for non-safety, non-critical stuff where they tell the dealers to do whatever job next time the car is in for any reason.
I suspect yours is the latter and wouldn’t be on any government website.

Took mine into AUDI dealer yesterday for 2 new tyres (they did a price match) and they discovered that there was a service recall on my 2014 A3 2.0D Sline for the lambda sensor so they replaced it there and then.

Seems to be only diesels - MY2015 1.40 CoD had no recalls in today's service.
