key stuck in ignition

Hi just come back from a run around
turned off and cant get key out of the ignition

tried starting off on again

from park to neutral back again a few time
steering lock is NOT on

ay ideas please

Can you start the car still? Worst case scenario it will be a new ignition barrel

yes car still starts

although when its switched off i can change through the gears prd12 without foot on the brake

its not to do with the actuator underneath the break pedal ?

not being able to remove the key unless in Park on an auto is a normal feature so suggests that the mechanism that does this is faulty... I believe on the 8L its cable operated from the selector but not actually looked at one closely to say for sure... later 8p etc cars use a solenoid thats controlled by CAN
