Kenwood head unit forgetting it's settings

I fitted this in my 2000 S3 lil while back, and wondered why it isn't remembering display settings. I swapped the yellow n red leads thinking the perm live was the wrong way round, still no joy, not got multi meter to hand to check, but seems im missing a permanent live?

Can anyone assist please.

You must have a perm live otherwise the unit wouldn't work at all, all Audi's have one. It's the fat red with white stripe lead above the brown earth on the black ISO power connector as per below:

Possible the fuse has blown but then the HU wouldn't work at all unless you've connected both the feeds on the HU to ignition on (the yellow with red stripe).
You need to connect the yellow from the HU to the red with white stripe and the red from the HU to the yellow with red stripe
