K03 Hybrid?

First send your turbo to CR Turbos so they can hybrid it.... then you will need (as a minimum), S3 MAF housing (you will need your original MAF sensor though), silicone TIP, some kind of filter (jetex etc), S3/TT (225)/LCR injectors and a custom map...

Recommended upgrades are... FMIC, 2.5" or 3" downpipe, rods (if you expect to run a reasonable amount of boost as K03 hybrids are spiky on torque delivery)... you may also need an LCR fuel pump too depending how tired yours is as I have seen these conversions run lean due to a tired pump before on Ibizas...

You cant just bolt the K04 parts onto your k03 turbo.

The original k03 housings are machined out so that they accept the larger k04 wheels. Presumably the centre housing is also machined out to take the larger k04 turbine/shaft/bearing assembly, or perhaps the K03 bearing is reamed to take the larger shaft instead. Its precision machining, not something you can slap together in your garage in an afternoon.

im planing on building the turbo myself. jsut wanted to no what parts from the k04 get use. E.G hot side, cold side

Thanks for the reply

Specialised equipment and machining is involved... you can't just throw the turbo together from random parts... AFAIK, the core of a K04 is used and the K03 hotside and comp housings are machined to suit... CR normally upgrade the thrust bearings to 360 deg ones if you ask.... you also need an uprated actuator and sometimes the wastegate needs a little porting to prevent boost creep...

ok cheers. im thinking of just upgrading to the k04. please add to the list of parts what i need if ive missed anything cheers.

Did you really just bump an hour old post?!

You will need, turbo and a manifold, top metal boost pipe, inlet manifold and injectors, oil and coolant lines. Along with a silicone TIP, a suitable filter, potential for the 3"MAF. I may be missing a couple of bits there, but I think thats it.

And then you would have to have it mapped.

I would suggest you go to a KO3S because it is such an easier swap and will cost far less, it'll be good for 235/240BHP which is more than enough for a FWD road car.
