Im already planning various mods which i'll keep you guys updated on.

I believe the S3 has a different front grill to the standard A3. What grill options are out there for the S3? I have mainly seen de-chromed grills which look good but is this the best option or what else can be done? Any input with pic's would be great.

Thanks - Jay

Check out S3Daves' s3 i think he covered it in red iirc or black is it... but it looks awesome

Hi Jay,

Nice example you've got there.

I've got a debadge 'ringless' grille on my S3. Its a copy of the original but minus the audi rings....I kept my S3 badge in the original place.

Shaun.

Thanks for the link.

Grill has now been ordered (not the chrome). Am very suprised at the lack of aftermarket grills available for the S3 but i think i've made the right choice, will post pic's once its on the car.

Coilovers and quickshift should be fitted this weekend :sm4:

If you car wasn't on this forum I wouldn't know it was an Audi.
If you were driving up behind me I would not know it was an audi .

So in respect to your comment above....nope
my old age would not make out the S3 badge !

Thats looking very nice!

Give the front end a more aggressive and cleaner look. Very nice touch by keeping the S3 bagde where it is. I can see mine ending up looking similar to this. ;)

DVLA documents arrived today so managed to get my plate on the car.

I've ordered a set of Pressed Plates as these came of my old RX8 and they look a bit tacky, also im not happy with the positioning of the screw caps.

Looking forward to the coilovers and quickshift being fitted tomorrow

Thanks mate.

I have a few other subtle but effective mods to do yet :)

Big thanks to the lads at Awesome. Brilliant service well recommended!

I went for the FK Konigsport kit and I can't fault it. The ride is excellent and the handling has improved so much, chuck it into a corner and it sticks like glue. Even when pushed a little to much its just mild understeer, very easy to control.

Im really enjoying it but i do want it lower so i'll play around with the coilovers when i get a chance. I know this may compromise the handling so i'll try to find a good balance in between.

Im not happy with the gap between the wheels and the arch both front and rear as you can see in the last picture so I may have to order some spacers for now as the search for rims continues.

When at Awesome I also had a Forge quick-shift fitted. Was very difficult to get into 6th gear at first but is fine now. The gear changes now are much tighter and much shorter. Probably saving a tenth or two per gear change.

Up next the car goes into the bodyshop for some other minor mods...

Those rims on the A6 lurking in the background look like ****** cartwheels!

ROBBerto84 - are you still following this thread? Looks like he didn't follow your advice!!!

After much thought i went for gloss black detailing on the car in the end as i think it goes well with silver and the black roof and spoiler i seen done before and really liked. The car needs a good old clean now so ill do that when i get a chance.

I still have a new grill on order so dont worry guys i ain't forgot about that, i'll post pics up when that arrives and it's on the car.

Wasn't sure about the boot-lid mod but i think it works well. I didn't want to loose the boot lock as i've had a bad experience on a previous car with de-locking the boot and then having to force it open.

Up next - LED lighting i hope...

Car is coming along really nicely!

Thanks.

Did the LED lighting upgrade last week so will post pics up soon.

Had a strange thing happen this morning. I started the car up and the hazzard lights started flashing. Tried the switch a few times but they wouldn't go off. Took the key out and locked the car but still they stayed on, started it again and they still stayed on. After 10mins of trying everything and no joy i decided to pull the fuse out. When i got to work i put the fuse back in and it was fine for a while but then started flashing again so i've left the fuse out now.

Anyone know what this could be?

Car looks sweet mate.

As said you need a new hazard light switch.

Hi mate, very nice s3, you look to have quite a bit of camber on the rear wheels since fitting your coilovers, if I were you I would be fitting some adjustable rear tie bars otherwise you will be needing some rear tyres before to long, will help to fill the rear arch till you get new rims, loving the gloss black with the silver looks great

Agreed, adjustable rear tie bars and spacers would be my next mods if that was my car. Good progress so far :)

Thanks for the comments guys!

I will look into the tie bars, which ones are the best to go for?

JayP, could you post a pic of the front of the car, looking head-on please? I have a spare lower front grille surround that I am considering spraying matt black to fit with the grille itself. My S3 is also silver so would like to get an idea of what it would look like.

Thanks mate.

Not sure how much it would cost to get just the side blades, front inserts and back bumper done but i paid £600 for all the work i had done on my S3.

I think black on red will look real good.

Nice car, but what I don't understand is how this thread has come so far without anyone asking about the Lupo?

Lupo looks awesome! is that yours too?

No, its my mates Lupo, as it the S6, Mk5 GTi and the Bora in the pics. It was him who advised me to get a S3 as he's previously owned one and loved it before it got written off.

The Lupo is nuts, slammed hard on coilovers, looks awesome wearing the 16" Borbet B's and sounds crazy too. Heres a few pics:

Plenty more there if you wanna watch them.

I understand that this is not to everyones taste but you gotta admire the quality of the install and its not easy squeezing all that equipment into such a small car and it is only ever played loud at shows/events.

Hello mate, don't know how I have missed this thread, your car looks bang on and you defo don't hang about hey?

The S6 looks familiar, you must know Tony with the blue Audi convertible?

The gloss finish looks really good on the silver and its sooooooo clean!!!

The issue you are having with the hazards is an intermittent one, it will come and go, but inevitably will need to be replaced. The hazard switch and relay are an all in one unit, you need to remove the switch and replace it,d this should sort the issue for you.

Costs about £40 if I remember correctly.

Cheers
Nilz

LOL!

It actually sounds very good on the sound quality (SQ) side but is brutal on the lower notes, it makes your internals shake! Got to experience it to fully appreciate it.

Hi Nilz

Yeah i had a good idea of what i wanted to do before i even bought the car so thats why things are getting done rather quickly.

The S6 you may remember from shows/meets a year or two ago. It belongs to Aman (Mr Singh), it's one crazy beast of a car. He keeps saying the car has retired from the show scene but i think it still turns heads.

I know Tony well, is he on this forum? His cabbie looks soooo nice!

I've got my new hazzard switch so will give it a go today. Guys is it a difficult job to change? Any advice from anyone is much appreciated.

Thanks

Hazard is easy mate, remove the stereo and unscrew a few screws and just slowly and carefully prize the fascia off, thats what i did but mine is a prefacelift but i believe its the same on facelifts.

Job done! I was struggling to pull the stereo out so managed to do this without removing the stereo, just removed the fascia and managed to pull the switch out, was a bit tricky but got there in the end.

No worries of the hazzards flashing in the middle of the night now.
