Ran it the other day with no issues just to test it, I don’t really like CarPlay anyway to be honest. Bluetooth for music and calls work fine too. Solid beta build on Public Beta V4 to be honest.
Is it true that Google maps is now available on the car play dashboard feature? is that IOS14 or just an update? not tried it yet to find out.
Hasn't that always been available, and one of the main reasons (along with Waze and Spotify) why people wanted carplay in the first place?
Apple/Google maps are not available in the virtual cockpit only on the flip up screen. Would be great if they have finally integrated but suspect they haven’t.
Nope. Only Apple maps was available on CarPlay Dashboard but then recently they allowed it for 3rd party apps. Google maps Hasn’t enabled it yet though. But I thought I had read somewhere that it now had.
Virtual cockpit is not what we are talking about. The dashboard feature on CarPlay is the screen with the maps and music and calendar in one screen

OOOOOOOOOO So many uses and meanings of the word dashboard does get a little confusing! This will be nice to have! Currently use maps on the flip up and have to put music on the virtual cockpit which is not as good!
So tested today with iOS14 installed and google maps still doesn’t seem to work on the dashboard screen of CarPlay as shown in that article. Even setting a route in google maps, when you go to the dashboard screen which includes music controls it just shows apple maps with your current location instead. Disappointing, I’ve updated to google maps 5.50 since driving in so thought this might sort it but a quick google seems to say people still having the issue after this update
Further to this can confirm it is working post 5.50 update to Google Maps. Assume this will be the case for everyone regardless of iOS version.
It's working on mine, yes, Google map on Carplay dashboard with the music and direction boxes together...
I went into the App Store and found “Google Maps - Transit & Food” It had the “Update” symbol next to it, so I did. You can check the version history to see what version you’re currently on.
Nice! Got it working! So much better than Apple maps especially cos Gmaps has the satélite version. Just a shame about the massive google logo in the corner!!
