Interior Mods

Don’t drill a hold on the new pocket for the led, as per that guide. On my thread I list the parts including the LED light bar that fits under the climate control unit, shining into the new pocket.

There is also a thread on this forum with most of the details.

You shared a link to a fitting guide on the last page, unless we have crossed wires somewhere?

The part number for the Ashtray delete tray is in a post I put on page 1 yesterday.
The guide to fitting it is in the post you provided on page 1.
The P/N for the light strip is in the link I provided above on page 2.

How about the dials, can I not just replace those? I noticed the headlight turner/dial to have chrome coating?

How does the led light strip look, can you show me a pic please (in dark)?
 
I haven't done the mod yet, I only ordered the ashtray delete tray yesterday.
I also don't plan to use any light in that area as it will be storage for my phone, and I don't fancy having light reflecting off the screen and distracting me in the dark.

Ah ok. Did you order the £20 part from eBay? Share link please.
I opened it up today and it's pretty simple
I noticed the astray has an LED bar. If someone wanted to use that could they not?
I probably won't use the lights myself anyway.

P.S. Loads of space frees up!

Than I put aluminium pedal cover replicas.
Than added a better looking steering wheel and s-line leather/alcantara seats and door cards.
All the above totally transformed the interior.

I don't know what to do with the centre console, it looks fine fo me.

How many gears does your S line gear knob have? Have you got a part number? Most of the ones I've seen are 6 gears!
 
£20 off eBay, same price from Audi.

You can’t ise the LED from the ashtray but you reuse the power cable.

Did you do a search for Audi 8p ashtray delete?

Fit the LED unless your happy with doing half the job. It’s not bright, is won’t blind you - it’s quite subtle.
 
Mine have 5 gears, though there was a possibility to choose between 5 and 6. I don't know the part number.

Yes, I've done a search n ready to install. I've already removed the ashtray to see how easy it was.
I'm ready to buy the parts n install now. Part 8P0863301A itself takes more than a week to deliver by eBay seller selling at £20.

Look at post #11 on the first link above? Although it's not mine its similar - I'll get you a couple of picks tonight.

You need to see the power wire from the ashtray underneath the new pocket - if you're already taken you ashtray out, run the wire to the back of the climate control before you set your new delete pocket in. It's a stretch but there is just enough length to connect this power cable to the LED light bar I list in my thread. To fit the light bar, you need to remove your climate control unit. The light bar sits below the CC and shines down into the pocket.

That pic looks nice and subtle. I'm guessing it will constantly be on?
Can you send me a link to the LED light bar please? eBay didn't bring many results. How much is it?

Also, is it easy to take the climate control unit off?

P.S. I took off the led bar from the cigarette compartment. Assuming I can't do anything with that?
 
You need both these parts:

- Diffuser/light cover: 8P0 864 138 A4 PK
- LED Light Bar: 8P0 857 355

Google the part number to see what they are. To purchase, it’s unlikely you’ll find on eBay - either raise a parts request from the A3 home page or if you have Facebook messenger send Mike, a parts specialist, a message on mjr901.

I think these 2 parts totalled £25.

I can’t remember if it’s constantly on or just when the lights are. That’s how much I don’t notice it! (I think it is only when head lights are on)

Everything you need to do and know is in the links above, including popping out your climate control. Read all the threads from start to finish and give it a try before asking any more questions :grinning:

As ,usual i am contrary as i like the ashtray even though i don't smoke . Mine is piano black with chrome trim so matches the rest of the centre console , its illuminated red when open so makes a great out of sight storage place :) I think if it was advertised as a safe storage for coins and valuables people would be fitting it not removing it..its the stigma of it being an ashtray :)

how do i do this ? there is nothing more frustrating that not being able to type a full postcode!!!
 
@ShaneBe - just to note, Audi never released a dvd with full postcodes for the RNSE so the aftermarket ones are hacks. They do however work perfectly well (I wish someone would hack a map for New Zealand!)

The lasers can wear out quicker when used with copied DVD.
 
In fairness hacks implies some kid in his bedroom copying DVD's and flogging them on E-bay
My disc marked 2016 has the latest variable speed cameras on the A12 which only went live in 2016 so a lot of work was done to this disc including the full 7 digit postcode additions as well as new roads and the latest speed limits, roads in my area that were 50mph that have been dropped to 40mph are shown as 40mph....
This is why i say buy from a reputable shop not ebay.
