insurance!

you must earn alot then to shell out £1300 and not be bothered.. just think after a few years at that price, its more that your cars worth. man thats a kicker aint it.
way back in the day when i had a 1991 RS Turbo Escort (i owned it in 1996) my insurance was £360 fully comp too. so you paying £1300 seems mental. each to there own i guess tho :arco:

£1300 are just the quotes he is getting at the mo in all fairness, he is sure to get that down if not halved....

I remember last year getting quoted £2k+ for my car insurance, but that didnt mean i took it, i eventually got it for about £600...

So it is a case of shopping around really.

Rav, have you tried Admiral and Elephant, they have always come out the best for me.

Also Rav, if you got any spare cash lying around, send it this way :moa:

lol by saying it pays well i mean it pays enough for me to just about get this car and pay insurance. at the end of the day obviously i would choose not to pay that amount but if i have to then i have to. tried amiral and elephant who both gave me stupid quotes. best so far is driect line for about £700 but thats without any breakdown cover and if i were to pay in one lump sum!

Dude, shop around for the breakdown, getting it joint isnt necessarily best.

Have a look at a company called Auto Aid, they are supposed to be really good...im personally with Endsleigh for Breakdown, really good cover for £35!!

Also if you got Tesco clubcard points you can get a really good deal on breakdown of their site.

Also I would recommend to pay it off in one go, take the hit now and reap the rewards every month with what you save, I know it might not be loads, but it all counts.

hi nilz for that cover do you get homes start and revoery away from home to tow to a local garage?

Rav

You dont get home start ( I dont need it, uncle/mechanic, just lives around the corner) but you do get towed to a local garage.

This is the endsleigh one...have a look on their website dude, lots of info on there...also to be exact i think its £38.75.

im with admiral at the mo but mine runds out at the end of the month and re quoted at £1350 but got it down to £940 full comp with a quick search on confused.com and best was churchill im 21 4 years no claims and 3 points.

20, 3 years no claims on my dads insurance is £990 and im still earning no claims as a named driver! (Elephant)

Scott read the small print about their no claims being earned by you, if i remember correctly, you can only use it with them, so if you take it elsewhere, they wont accept it...

Just something worth checking.....

Someone please correct me if im wrong tho :)

yeah i got told that i was buildig up my no claims when i was a named driver on my moms policy on direct line and as soon as i started my own polciy with direct line i was back to the start with 0 years no claims, so to benefit from those no claims you have to stay on your dads policy forever pretty much!

best quote for breakdown cover is about £102 for breakdown and home start sound about right chaps. i know you can get it for £35 odd but thats the basic of basic cover.

For those who insure their cars as 'Garaged', I don't think it make much difference. I enquired about it during my renewal, since I often get home in the early hours, so not ideal to garage my car after 12AM, so I changed it to 'On the Drive' just incase they sneak out of a claim if it gets nicked outside. They will only hike the premium if it's on the street parking in most cases.

Have also heard that whether its in a garage or on the drive, it doesnt really make a difference.

I remember quoting when I was at my parents, I did the same quote, but 3 different ways, parked on the street, on a driveway and in a garage, suprisingly they all came up the same!!

As i said in my earlier post my quote was actually cheaper with the car on the drive rather than in the garage.

LOL....guess it may have something to do with the area then!! :busted_cop:
