Just wondered whether any of you guys that had gone down the tuning route did with regards to your insurance.
My S3 is with an online one but they won't quote when I try to edit and include modifications for tuning. I emailed them and they confirmed they won't quote on it.
Do I have to find a specialist tuner or was I just unlucky when I insured back in January with my one?

My current insurer won't cover mods and I got a quote from Adrian Flux ( on here) and the quote they came back with including stage 1 and turbo back was super competitive. Will definately be going with them :)

There are a few threads on this, but in short.....

There are a number of insurers dealing in modified cars, and I'm with Greenlight, who only deal in modified cars.

First rule is to find one you can get along with.

Second...declare EVERYTHING....if you don't at some stage(after an accident or whatever) you will find yourself uninsured.

I'm with sky at the moment and have had a quote for going to Stage2+ which I'll be doing in October.
The increase in premium wasn't too bad I didn't think for adding 100bhp.

As Alex says though your best bet is to declare everything - not worth the risk!!

Thanks guys. Had a look on compare the meerkats and seen a few prices on there. None of the ones you have mentioned so will have a look at them too.
Not chosen a stage 1 to go with yet so no rush and nothing to worry about declaring to current insurers.
MTM is looking a good fit at the mo as it is local.

Im with adrian flux and with mods declared its a very competative price

I'm through Adrian Flux (though actually insured by Equity Redstar) with all mods declared and agreed value, and they still offered about £50 cheaper than the best from comparison sites with mods replaced with standard parts.

My only mod is a stage 1 map on my S3 and LV were the most competitive. Not sure what they'd be like with a lot of mods but very understanding of mapping.

This is just like me. I am now insured with Adrian Flux and as you say it is Equity Redstar.
My first time with Adrian Flux and I was impressed with the speed of the emails containing my documents, etc. None of this waiting for snail mail to get here! I have already had a couple of queries which were dealt with very quickly. The price was better than my renewal but not by a lot, however the excess was lower and I have some benefits I was not aware of with my other policy.
Of course I hope I never need any of them! I found dealing with them better than my previous insurers too.

I've used both.

They both gave good service and quotes, and if they can provide quotes on my car then that's good enough!

I am also with adrian flux admiral was willing to still insure me for stage 1 map and exhaust etc but the modifications were not covered ( exhaust would only be replaced with standard parts) my car is stage 2+ now so would not insure me adrian flux are pretty good I'm due my renewal through so will prob check green light and another couple companies aswell,

Another one worth trying for modified insurance is brentacre, managed to get very reasonable priced quotes. With sky insurance atm as they were most competive this year round.

I used Chris Knott for my A3 (mapped) they beat the likes of AF etc by over £100. Very pleased with them.
