I've recently had a 3.0Tdi A6 dropped at my place that has an intermittent instrument cluster & HVAC fault.
They are mostly off after what I'm pretty sure to be rain/moisture getting in where it shouldn't. I unblocked the drain under the windscreen & a LOT of water drained onto the ground. Now, in the rare times when one works the other does too, but otherwise they are both dead, other than some warning lights on the cluster.
A VCDS scan is full of errors from the many modules that can't talk to the instruments.
I have replaced the battery & checked all the fuses (I'm also looking for a parasitic drain on the battery, but's that's secondary to the main fault - or it's related, who knows?).
Does anyone know if the AC & Intruments share a common power source, relay or control module? Or does anyone have a wiring or block diagram?
Thanks in advance.
