A few weeks ago i got the above light up on my dash saying key was not secure and after looking around the net cleaned the slots out in the side of the remote and it all seemed fine. Fault has come back again and cleaning has done nothing, key also doesn't fall out of the dash which some have reported its still firmly secure. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

I replaced the ignition key reader when ours did that, it was only about £25 off eBay. A couple of bolts and the trim comes off around it and then it's just plug the new one in.

Thanks for the reply. Bizarrely my boot release had also packed up so i was checking all the fuses and connections in the right side of the boot and by reseating the grey connector both the boot now unlocks and also the ignition lock issue has disappeared. Thanks again something i need to investigate further
Yeah had the B8 key release issue come up on a few of them tbh, client didn't want to fix it, so it's interesting what you have found.
