i know another problem....

my cars a apy s3 99 v reg few questions

- changed the master clutch cylinder and slave along with new flywheel and clutch etc still feels crap ie very slow to rise back to the top after depressing, a lad that bled it today said its a pipe with two clips on the clutch bleed nipple however he seemed sheepish to explain a exact name so im guessing hes clueless.

- secondly had new discs all round and pad bleed them out but pedal feels very spongey still ??

-dash cluster with fuel mpg etc info has started going on me now has dissappeared completly ? a fuse or somthing or just a new replacement needed ?

- where is the ecu on these cars as my scuttle panel is crap and wont seal properly to the windscreen hoping that silver box with wiring loom under it isnt the ecu but the airbag ecu not that its a good thing

- noticed a kick as well when changing into say reverse slowly moving and in 1st ect ive changed the haldex diff oil recently


my car hands down is the worst problematic car on here im going to make it my objective to have it running properly with no niggles by the end of next year

Sorry to say it is the Engine ECU that lives there,,

I would look at getting it in to a vag specialist mate if it was me. I'm sure the little problems you've got have added up and made it a pretty miserable drive.......? Fair play to you though , you've attacked some of the problems and set yourself a realistic time scale, end of next year!

He seems to be getting through it bit by bit himself, an hefty garage bill would add insult to injury IMO.

i meant just to diagnose problems mate, there is a vag specialist in stapleford, Nottingham , that spent 2 hours telling me the problems with my s3 and didn't charge me a penny, I did have most the repair work done there and have used them before ect... But along them lines I was hinting ( I should of been clearer)

cheers lads and it seems menal to have the ecu their where water can quite easily be contact with it as my scuttle panel isn't sat on the winscreen at all hmmmm very annoyed now, would this be a surgeustion as to the start of a failing ecu as the info panel isnt working ie mpg scale and ave speed all that gumpth ???

cheers mate i quite like the idea of trying to get this old dog in the runnings again its just very frustrating when you think youve narrowed it to a few obvs faults but then more emerge im guessing the reason my info panel in the dash is flickering due to the scuttle isnt sealed 100%

They have a pretty good seal on the connector on the ecu to be fair chris, i think it maybe more local...but no harm checking..

checked it last night and looked to be pretty dry quite astonishing how they put the ecu where water is so close to contact
